The thread about carrying spare fuel got me thinking about the amount of 'essential' gear I carry on the 'bike, wherever I go:

    You know..

Most of the items seem to pack down well..But i do have a few question..What do you use the chamois for? Locking helmet bags?(overkill unless you have had some helmet taken)..Oil funnel?Well i guess if i drank as much as you..remember, you can make one out of a piece of paper if need be..

And the most important question of the day...Dutch, just how many ears do you really have?:rofl

The chamois is in case I need to clean the 'bike while I'm away on tour...........or at least the screen/lights etc.........

Locking helmet bags:the best bit of 'biking kit I've ever had!

Picture the scene: two up, all cases full of luggage....leaving 'bike on car deck of ferry overnight.....

Solution: lock helmets to grab rail to save carrying them up eight decks to cabin........remember most helmet damage is caused taking them where you don't need to............

Plus a zillion other good uses:they have a steel cable/combination lock running through them........lock all your gear in/on the 'bike while you go skinny dipping in the Med......

Come on guys, use your imagination.........

Oh....and the ears..........just the same as you!

    Wow.
Guess that's what happens when you've got a trunk.

Unless I'm off overnight, it all fits in my fannypack, er, bumbag for you UK folks.

Travel light, move fast, live off the land.

    OH wait...locking helmet bags?
Ogg like. Ogg want. Where Ogg buy?

And I confess, I've always got a bandana and some schmeer for my visor and glasses, even just commuting.

    Tip on avoiding helmet theft.
Buy the one with the bizarre squidboy graphics. They are usually on sale. Then take it home and rattle bomb it with flat black (or whatever) no one will take a rattle bombed hat.

Since I got my Mandy I haven't even put on or used the sidebags.
Took off the back seat. Seems like plenty-O-space.
Tent: if it looks like rain
    Sleeping bag: if it's cold
    Fleece stuff: if it's cold
    Cell phone
    Credit card

The one thing I am lacking though is good tunes.

    Arbey Canuk,

Have you ever listened to a local band there in Toronto called Paul Reddick and the Sidemen?

not to prolong a side discussion on the American constitution, but I believe the phrase from the second amendment is " A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Apologies to the motorcycling community, we now return to our regularly scheduled broadcast.
