The dirty KLR is coming together... new fork seals, rear tire, and headlight were installed today. Soon, I'll have a new seat and a radiator fan. All in time for the campout next weekend.

Here are some pics of my "custom fabrication work".

It's a salvaged headlight off a 197X Honda street bike. Universal headlight brackets, some flat stock, and some stainless hardware make it all come together. Decent light output. Better than stock, IMHO. Still need to paint the whole mess black and eventually add some turn signals. (The mini-flood light is a walmart special and may eventually be wired...)

File this under "I'm sure glad I thought of that today".

I haven't ridden in a couple of weeks. Although it's been working fine, I've been thinking that my battery is getting a little old. So, I tried to start the XRL today. Nothing, not even a click.

I would have sucked to learn this next weekend.

I'm still in for at least the burger and ride, campout still a maybe.

Dirtydog, I've been thinking of a similar headlight swap for the DR. I'll have to take a look at your set up.

Sure thing. It's a sealed beam with a plastic (or fiberglass?) bucket. Looks heavier than it is. Has hi/lo just like stock and I'm using all the normal switchgear.

My dr350 started and ran fine today UNTILL I got off in the woods. Seems like the carb likes to leak whenever it gets rough. I spent this evening rebuilding and cleaning carb. Hopefully I have it fixed, but I thought that last weekend too.
    Now its :1drink time

I'll most likely be there for lunch. I've been dating a gal that loves to ride two up so she most likely will be with me. I hope that isn't a problem bringing a girl a long, but it's only for lunch.
