    Hi All,

A close friend and I are flying to Jakarta in early October to buy bikes, then take them across to Sumatra for about 10 days of hard mountain riding. My friend has suggested we do Bengkulu Province and I've also heard the Lake Toba area is beautiful. Any ideas, thoughts, locations, precautions are GREATLY appreciated. We did this last year in Northern Vietnam through rough terrain and had a blast so we're used to getting stuck in tough situations, but we've never done Indonesia.

We'll probably buy bikes in Jakarta so if anyone is looking to unload 2 quality offroad bikes, let me know.

    Cheers!

Hi 76er, in Jakarta there are so many offroad bikes community and also offroad bike dealer. Are you going to buy a brand new offroad bike or used bike in excellent condition? If you are looking for used bikes you can visit this link: http://endurototale.indonetwork.co.id/profile/enduro-totale-indonesia-adventure-tour-operator.htm.

The question is, are you going to ride those offroad bikes in tarmac road with offroad tire or are you going to send them by truck to Sumatera or ride it with dual purpose tire or ride it with tarmac tire and bring offroad tires?

For accommodation and complete information about Bengkulu and surroundings you may contact one of our friend in Palembang, here is the link: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=548969&page=46.

Good luck and happy riding! :1drink
