    So who wants to go on a Sunday Kitsault ride? Sure it's going to be long, wet, muddy and there's a good chance we'll get lost but that adds to the fun.

    I've e-mailed the site to have the gate opened and will try calling them tomorrow. Take a look here ( http://www.kitsault.com/today.htm ) to see where we're headed. One GPS and a satellite phone will be packed along for those nervous types.

    Hey Rick;

    We're looking at departing PR Sunday at 0500 and arriving in Terrace at 0630 ..... a nice healthy Heart Slam at Denny's was in order for prior to departing into the deep woods.

    We are attempting to contact the New Aiyanish RCMP in order to ensure the gate is open.

    It would be great to finally meet you, a long time coming.

    After much whinging an 0600 departure from TH is happening with a 0730 arrival at Denny's. Hopefully we can be on the road again (at least to Safeway to re-fuel) by 0815, time will tell.

    Getting to the townsite will not be a problem.

    Awesome. You have no idea how bad I wanted to be there! Whats up with the town? Why is it closed? What used to be there? Looks pretty well kept for an abandoned place. Can we go there next spring? Good to see David too.

    Hit the website for the full info. In a nutshell, it was built in 18 months for $250 million in 1980 or so in order to get molybdenum (sp?) out of the ground. It ran for 18 months and then the bottom fell out of the market. The place has been padlocked for 24 years, with a couple of caretakers to keep the heat on in the houses and the lawns mowed. A rich yankee bought it a little back with dreams of opening a resort .... time will tell.

    A town for 5000 that has a couple of people in it .... kinda spooky.4 or 5 large apartment buildings; school; hospital; 95 houses; a mall; rec centre with pool, weight room and library that still has books in it, and gym. All 200 km north of Terrace.
