Most dealers don't allow test rides, so specs are the only thing some people have to go by. They also get people in the door and excited.

sure wish the Japanese manufacturers would get over this anime/transformers thing that's going on right now.

I think the Z1000 is the worst............Suzuki was way ahead of the ugly game with the B-King thou.

Just give us nice clean lines with modern tech.......

Test rode the FZ09, and a number of other Yams, at a Yami demo event earlier this year. Factory 18 wheelers stop by with 2/3rds of their line up.

Personally, I would never buy a bike without a good test ride. Heck, even after that, there are nuances of the bike's characteristics - and character - that only show themselves after extensive riding. I've had more "6 month test rides" than I care to count.

Specs are a good starting point for evaluating a bike, but most seasoned riders know enough not to bench race.

Yami took after Triumph's highly successful playbook, but it will be awhile till they refine it to the levels of the Street ans Speed Triples. I'll have to reserve judgement on how good - or bad - job Suzi did on these GSXR variants.

I like this new Suzuki's looks. This bike will really rival the FZ-09. It's heavier, but has better looks. I look forward to racing one.

The more I look, the more this looks like it's quite similar to the FZ8. I have a feeling this will end up selling at a discount below MSRP to get them off the floor. The bike is good enough for me and probably a lot of others, but doesn't look to be an improvement over other things already available.

Meh, SV650s didn't crush the competion with specs ,but managed to be popular. I don't care if it is popular, just want to get one to try out.

One spec I like versus the FZ-09 is the .9 gallon bigger gas tank. Should make it less likely a rider will get hung out to dry somewhere (and as someone who sport-tours on a Thruxton I am damn tired of fighting that).

I think the Suzuki looks a lot better than FZ-09 (or course, almost everything does). Most of all, there's some fun to be had in wringing out an inline four.

I bought a CBR 600F4 almost 14 years ago from my local Honda shop and then they added Suzuki. Ever since I bought that bike and occasionally come back for tires or gloves or spray cleaner, they've been very good about letting me ride stuff. I hope that will continue when the GSX shows up.

"The GSX-S1000 gets traction control and has the lowest seat height of any motorcycle in its class, Suzuki says."

    Music to my ears.

Looks pretty tame to me. Seems like they copied BMW around the top of the headlight more than it being transformerish.

Sure like the looks. Iffn it was a 750 Vtwin, damn. I'd need it. Article said motor is from the K5 era gixxers.

Sure would like to "borrow" one for a weekend. Ownership not so sure.

I'd personally rather take off all the TC/ABS electronics and pay a grand less. Also, I like a tall bike. Better viz, easier on the knees. It only sucks when you need to back the bike up.
