Heads up guys - 1.) HWY AA has a closed bridge at 37.96644, -90.92236 2.) we were riding it this past weekend and were about to enter Shannon Co (which the route just dips into by Akers & Eminence MO - bottom of Sat route) and we were advised to stay out or risk $1,000 fine. We had no cell coverage so we couldn’t verify it - but weren’t willing to risk it. Be warned - it is on the county health department website. https://shannoncountyhealth.org/ - $1,000 fine for those violating the do not enter the county for recreation or leisure. We had no issues in any other county - so be careful, choose your route well - and have a great ride. 3.) We only had two impassable crossings, but saw several new nice concrete bridges on the Sunday portion. Have a great ride this weekend.

Other than the info in the first page of this thread and what's posted throughout the rest of the thread what else would you like to know?

I just saw this on one of the Facebook groups.

SBR-2020 - Be warned about Shannon County (Eminence MO) - the route at the very bottom of the Swinging Bridges Ride enters this county. You might get fined $1,000. We were warned this weekend on our ride to stay out or get fined. Ride knowing this. We had no problems in any of the other counties.

Well, I finally buckled under the pressure and canceled my reservation at St Clair. She told me on the phone that there were still 6 rooms reserved on the ride. I hated to cancel but it just doesn't seem to be worth the potential hassle and risk.
For those still going ....... have fun and I'll see you next year :thumb

We are going to try to run it in October if that interests you. Keep an eye out.

Iron county passed something similar (county NE from Shannon). Sucks, 32 East out of Salem is a great, curvy road and Council Bluffs has a good mountain biking loop.

Iron County's order expires May 1 at 12am, so should be all good through Iron county. May not be a bad idea to print a copy of that in case you get pulled over in Iron county and the LEO tries to enforce it.

Shannon County's order doesn't expire until 11:59pm on Sunday night.

@g steezy and I came up with the attached route that we're going to take to bypass Shannon County, just to play it safe. This detour, instead of going south into Shannon Co., takes you north to the middle of Dent county and cuts west and eventually south to meet up with the original track at Montauk State Park. No idea if this detour is pavement or gravel but it looks to be a through route. This also gives the option to take the Licking Detour just north of Montauk.

In case you were unsure. Checked my files, that track will work, I've ridden it all at some point, in other words it's all open roads, not just on the map but not there. It's mostly gravel. There is gas and food in Jadwin.

OK, so here is what I'm gathering is the rough schedule of checkpoints for Saturday:

Breakfast @ Budget Lodging in St. Clair
Mid-morning detour around Route AA due to bridge repair, around Edg-Clif Winery ~50 miles
    Gas/Snack @ Bixby ~90 miles
Gas stop @ Bunker ~110 miles
Detour North (right) on County Road 552 to avoid Shannon County, head toward Jadwin ~130 miles
Gas stop @ Edgar Springs ~190 miles (or Licking if doing Licking Detour)
End @ Best Western in St. Robert, or camp nearby

Any good reasons to do the Licking Detour rather than standard route through Edgar Springs?

Where are primitive camping folks mainly going? I see "Primitive camping" marked around Devil's Elbow, but I also heard talk about Ft. Leonard Wood and "Ruby's Landing" earlier.

Well, I have good news and I have bad news.

The bad news is my DR caught on fire a little bit.

    IMG_20200430_201908.jpg

The good news is I am borrowing a bike from one of the guys who couldn't make it!

    We're in for 3 solid, the 4th is always a toss-up.

Thanks much for the revised .gpx route! That saves me plenty of time I don't really have after work tomorrow!

I'm in on this ride. See you all Saturday morning. Looks like packing rain gear for Sunday will be a good idea.

    I'll be on a 1190r.

Nearest I can guess I fucked something up when I was wiring in the new taillight.

The whole loom is melted together now though so I have a bit of work to do to replace it. One of the wires was glowing orange by the time I found the dykes to cut it. (took the key out and everything stayed on!)
