Just heard from BigDog- Said he's hanging out at the hotel and there's about 20 people there- he expects a good showing tomorrow. I'll probably head out to Bixby in the morning and be there by lunch.

    What's the route around this?

Looking at the embankment it doesn't look too awful impassable...

Any bridges that I've seen out for construction have a way for the workers to get from aide to side...…………..just saying.

Was a great day for a ride Saturday!

I have to say though, I followed the route posted on page 7 that avoids Shannon county and the section between bixby and the last gas stop was... Dreadful. Nothing but long straight dirt roads and mediocre blacktop. I certainly would not recommend it once this $1000 fine thing is lifted

I saw some kids playing in the water so I took pics. They can use them as a screen saver at work when they grow up. I doubt any of these will grow up any time soon though.

The 2020 Missouri Swinging Bridges Ride was another success. Thanks to everyone who put in the work to make it happen.

And as an addendum, the cheapest gas I have seen in more than a decade!

This year was very different from the past three swinging bridges rides I’ve attended for sure. Low attendance, hard to find hot food, many angry locals, super dusty despite riding in a severe thunderstorm. It wasn’t all bad though, we saw lots of turtles, turkeys, I personally thought the Shannon county by pass was pretty nice, and despite having a group of 13 riding at time everyone meshed perfectly which is unheard of. I look forward to next year as always. I’m not one for pictures, but I think I got a decent amount of video footage. After I get it all edited up I’ll post a YouTube link here.

    Angry locals?

I’ve been riding in Missouri 3 out of the last 4 weekends and everyone has been very friendly.

Swinging bridge ride 2020 to me was the way a ride should go , everyone seem to get along and just enjoyed them selves, all respected each other and everyone was ready to help if needed , on the trail everyone blended in together seamlessly . Thanks for a great time.

The staff at the hotel in St. Clair were super nice, friendly and helpful.
I've never stayed there before as I always slept in my van in the parking lot----and rode a "small" bike on the ride. Their breakfast was way better than you normally get---and they brought it to our rooms.
Pretty dang expensive tho----------says a cheap old man on social security :lol3.

One of the riders had a really nice son with him (wasn't a rider)------don't remember names.
Me and him became friends and shared some pizza------he and I are both "Ely Tomac" fans and pizza fans-------------------we like "round" pizza's.
Just wanted to say he was a super polite young man. Don't see that often.

That’s been my experience as well until this past weekend. I have video of a guy pulling a gun on our group because we accidentally ended up on his property. Another guy going 15 mph on gravel hauling a trailer swerved at a biker when he went to pass after patiently waiting for at least a mile for him to wave us by. Another guy yelling at us from his porch that we can’t stop here, even though it was a county road, just trying to make a quick repair on a bike. I’ve never been across so many hostile people. I can also vouch for my group being a very respectful bunch and not provoking any of this bullshit. It made me a little sour I’m not going to lie. Thankful the majority of the locals were friendly and most of the time waved back at me as I went by.

I was running two cameras, but lost one at some point on Saturday. Then on Sunday we got caught in a terrible storm and I completely lost focus on keeping a fresh battery in the camera I had left. So with limited footage, here's a video I put together of some of the highlights of my first SBR. Not the best video but the ride was a blast. Can't wait to do it again next year.

Here's a video I made of the Swinging Bridges ride from last weekend. I apologize in advance for the length of the video I have a known problem editing them down.
