Anyone up for a Watagans ride?
We'll go through some sensible single track, and just have a ride around.

    Heres the details:
    Meet Berowra mobil 9am.

Go up the old pacific hwy, onto peats ridge rd, off to cooks rd (might be trail) to central mangrove, George downes dr to kulnura, then up to walkers ridge and enter the forest.
We then come out at wyong somewhere for lunch, then back through the forest a different way to head home.

I set a GPS route randomly to explore, hope it turns out OK :thumb

Just bumping this up. Missed a ride on the Adventure the other day so definately keen. Probaly trailer the bike cause I've got some "not for highway use" knobs on at present.

Wouldn't mind having a go at some beach riding as an alternative.

PS geez Michelin Deserts are a PITA to get off a rim !!!!!!

This is going to be great, when i get home tonight i'll organize a route, This weekend i may have a look around the forest and see where to go. One track i went had half a foot deep rut of dirt, then some jumps. Should be fun on our big thumpers :D

Somewhere that we all won't fall off trying to get through :)

I have to apologise. No can make the 10th. Apparently I'm booked to go to the snow with family. Always the last to know.

Any chance we can do it earlier, or say two weeks later (one week in the snow) etc

    Sorry guys (bloody PITA !!!!!!!)

    I can't make the 3rd

but if you guys wanna, go and do a reconnaissance ride and check out the trails and then we can do it again later (or on the 10th)

Or alternatively we can use the 10th to reconnaissance the trails, and Alchemist can join in again in a few weeks.

baaahhhh. it's a dirtbike. It's built for falling off :ricky

but i'm not going to try doing jumps. loamy dirt, mud, creek crossings, open trails are all fine though.

That sounds better spritle, 10th it remains, another ride a few weeks after that :D

True. I keep forgetting its a dirt bike :)

The jumps are optional, we can just go over them slowly.

I normally work weekends but I can make both the 3rd and the 10th, and will go both days if anyone else wants to. If anyone wants to do a week day recon ride I could probably make that too. I've only had my 640 adv for 3 months and haven't done any single track or jumping on it yet. anyone else coming on one ?

Thanks for the tip about the Miche Deserts, Alchemist. I'm just about to order a set, I'll get some full size tire irons aswell. the standard saharas are great on tar but not to confidence inspiring on gravel.

Took those a couple months back, didn't explore much of the single track.

Rjf, if i'm not working on the bike, maybe we can take a look around on the 3rd as well?

You are gonna love the Staintune system on the DR, it will really bring it to life. Not sure about the K & N filter though. I have never used one but I have heard that they aren't the best filter for dirt work? Maybe someone else here knows a bit more :dunno

How far north of Sydney are the Watagans? I would really like to do a ride with some Advriders but Sydney is a fair hike from Casino on a DRZ. Is anyone interested in meeting halfway for a ride sometime, maybe around Kempsey / Taree?

    Gday BR,

the watagans are in between sydney and newcastle - a fair hike from Casino. I'll be taking the KTM upto Armidale for work on the 27 / 28 July coming back to Gosford via back roads on the 29 / 30 if you want to join in.

    I wondered about the bushfires.

I think we did that single track on the first Watagans Bash. Good fun even if I was a bit slow compared to others.

It comes with a pre-filter you put on before going offroad, not sure how much that will restrict it if its jetted for just the K&N.

I'm interested in that, might have to be a long weekend though.

Watagans would be a good 600km hike from casino.

That would be great but unfortunately I will be doing a similar run the following week. I will be meeting my mate in Armidale and we are heading down to Singleton via Barrington Tops for a training weekend for big trail bikes.

I know some tracks around Kempsey and Taree though so we might have to organise a long weekend sometime, maybe when it warms up a bit.

Yeah that might be a bit far for a quick weekend (geez, I must be getting old). We will have to work something out one day though.

What about an Annual Adventure Rider run sometime? There seems to be quite a few here from Sydney and Brisbane so it might work if it where somewhere in between?. Wonder if we should start a new thread?
