I placed an additional washer (thinner than but with the standard washer) under the rear axle nut and I found that it spaces the nut out far enough to easily get a Cruz Tool type axle wrench on the nut for trailside maintenance, yet it still leaves about a thread showing on the axle after tightening. I don't think there will be any problems with it coming loose since there is still a thread showing on the axle.
