I'm not one to dwell on the past.

Whenever I see those boulders in the Naki rivers, esp the Waiwhakaio, I always think about the power of the water that picked them up from wherever they came from and carried them there. Would be a sight to see in a big flood.

Yea, did that to. Figured out I wouldn’t have much time to work on bikes so decided a new one was a good idea. Remember at Martinborough adventure ride, after the ride Ben was looking at my bike ? ( Bumble Beemer ) A week later he owned it :thumbup

I don't know if I could part with mine... I plan to give it a birthday at 300,000km. Not too much longer and I'll be there.

Mind you, it might take a bit longer if the onion delivers what I want, which would be a good thing for the Bemaha.

Hope you enjoy the Tenere. They look and feel like a good bike. Maybe better with a little suspension tuning.

Hope you blokes are making the most of this little burst of fine Autumn weather! Got out for a lap around the big hill today with a poke up Moeroa for good measure.

Moeroa, eastern end of Rawhitiroa Rd. Roughly 48km from Eltham. The last 18? of which is unsealed.

Every weekend needs a "cunning" plan and today's plan was to go SOMEWHERE. So to give you all the Readers Digest version, Phil came around home and we (Leanne also) headed off.

They say an army marches on its stomach so we got our priorities right and our first stop (other than for fuel) was the Stratford bakery, so much to choose from!

Then it was zoom zoom down the Forgotten World Highway to Strathmore where we turned right and headed to the Makahu Tunnel.

The road soon turned to gravel (it had recently been graded and had quite a loose surface which made riding quite tricky). Past the start of the Matemateonga Walkway, onto Whangamomona Road (the part where cars still drive) and then we reached our destination at Aotuhia, the Bridge to Somewhere. Then on the way out the shot looking back at the bridge (Leanne thinking she might have a turn riding ....) 8F863AD5-875D-4B6F-A4B6-1CF088B319AC.jpeg 14A8DD18-9075-4B35-8706-848A2498C6C6.jpeg On the way out we stopped to look at some of the Autumn colour 9305B458-7D41-4201-9BCF-7E1B62F4D8A3.jpeg
And a final stop at Toko 14FB0F59-A47E-4553-92BB-FFAB42B693AA.jpeg

    Awesome trip.

    Thanks for sharing.

Can you get all the way to Whanga itself through the Old Whanga Road still, like go all the way?

Trying to put together a Naki tunnel route at the moment. Hanging a left off at Douglass or so.

Yes you can but the old Whanga Road is quite rough going.

Search on Kiwi Biker forum for the TTTTT ride (Terribly Terrific Taranaki Tunnel Tour) ride that Phil and I organised a few years ago

    Yeah another great post.

Looking on the maps it seems to go through farmland.
Thought it was maybe ask the farmer sort of ride. But cheers.

No it is a public road, but more a 4WD track. You’ll find lots information and photos online to show you what it is really like
