    This is really cool.
But I'm shivering just looking the pic. :lol3

We did shit like this when I was a kid growing up in the PNW. My grandfather would take me elk and deer hunting in eastern WA and it was always snowy.

Mine won't either. Camper to her is a luxo Winnebago. :lol2
She thinks I'm nuts when I pile on my backpack gear on the bike and go ride thousands of miles while the RV sits in the driveway. :D

Props to you but that's a little more hardcore than I'd ever do. I'm sure location has a huge part in it. I swear I am terrified of scorpions, tarantulas, snakes, and fire ants crawling on me while I'm sleeping.

When I lived in Maine I spent the night just in my snowmobile suit and a snickers bar in the middle of nowhere off a trail lol. Wasn't that fun. Thankfully warmish night.

I think business & quality is so good Paul doesn't need to offer any discounts.

I don't think there are any discounts from those smaller niche vendors.

Best bet is to visit the hammock forum every 15 minutes and try to score something that's a few bucks off from new.

12x12 for $50. Awesome deal. What sucks is the cost of the poles!

Growing up in the desert we never slept without a tent and attached floor. My Dad had a buddy who died when they were out camping in the desert. A sidewinder decided his sleeping bag was nice and warm. The guy rolled over and it bit him on the neck.

My wife won't sleep out in a tent at all. Most of that is because when we did have a tent we could count on at least one thunderstorm EVERY time we went camping. The lightning and aluminum tent poles terrified her. Then there are the bears. We were in a tent one night when a couple of small bears decided to raid the site. A couple of kids had some meat in an ice chest they left out at night. We ended up in the car. So, now days she camps in our fifth wheel RV :)

    * Kelty Noahs Tarp 16 *

I love this size tarp if you have 2 people to help set it up, but if you are solo and there is any kind of wind its WAY to big and unruly to set up solo. I highly recommend it for a multiple night base camp trip if you have a few people to help, but the one thing you don't realize is that the tarp is HUGE. I am going to go down in size for solo camping trips to the 8' and I think it will be fine.

Don't get me wrong , I Love the tarp, but just know what you are getting yourself into when you buy it.

I have used it probably around a month now on multiple different trips. Windy beach at port Aransas, music festival for a week, camping, and out in the back yard. Its well built and holds up great, but you have to have it dialed in pretty good and bring plenty of improvisational guylines.

on the beach we used those little nylon bags they sell at academy and buried them under the sand with the guylines tied to them.

attached photo I doubled the tarp over to create sun-shade over my trailer / cooler. this was out in Terlingua

at the music festival we set up for a week and it kept under the area bone dry, but I had another guy with me and we had to wrangle it pretty good to get a taut pitch.

highly recommend using the truckers hitch knot, the mechanical advantage is key to this size tarp (or any tarp for that matter)

It was one of a number of photoshop projects in honor of a since deceased ADV member Eat at Joes. The James Brown meme left when he passed for the most part, but if you look around (mostly in Joe Mamma) you'll probably come across some other crazy ones. Like you, this one always cracked me up, and I made it my avatar in memory of EAJ.
