Nice 70! Looks to be in a lot better shape than mine. (I could use a repaint, it did not turn out like I wanted)

Thanks for the offer. I hope for no trouble. Lol.

Unfortunately I've had a busa that went 7:40's in the quarter and 80 percent done with building a 7 second Chevy 2 for dragweek. But I have thousand times the fun on any of my street or dirt bikes. It's smiles per dollar w/o the grief and aggravation. I would take any $1,500 bike over any 150,000 car any day. Sorry to interrupt the regular schedule program but cars suck compared to bikes in my opinion even though I've built many and my dumbass is building another lol.

Noticed today after some wheelies that my front was coming down and hitting kind of hard. After some tinkering with suspension, I figured out my forks weren't even compressing all the way. Strapped them down and ratcheted them to their limit. 5" of total travel on a bike that should have about double that.

Figured it had to be hydro lock. Too much fluid. While the forks were strapped down, I slid a piece of a sweet tea jug behind the seal. Fluid went everywhere as expected, but the forks finally went down some more. I continued this until I had full range of travel. Real scientific right?

Unless I have to change a seal, I'm just too lazy to pull apart forks and check the levels. They are much better now. I assume someone was trying to correct their spring rate with more fluid.

    Before...fully compressed KIMG0056.jpg

Mostly compressed after removing some fluid... still had some more to go. Just didn't pull straps all the way.

Definitely glad to catch it before I lost a seal on a big rock.

I knew something was off with this bike's suspension ever since I got it, but I couldn't quite place it. I'd even took it offroad quite a bit...

So much better now.. Plus, my 5'8" self reaches the ground better ...Useful.. Getting pumped and anxious about tomorrow morning. First time being away any real amount of time since daughter was born. She's 2 now.

Yeah that would have been a pain trailside. Doable but a real pain.

Have a fantastic trip! Your daughter will be so excited when you get back and you'll have a great tale to tell her when she's older. Looking forward to following along!

My gear weighed in at 33 lbs including the bags themselves.. Also including tent, clothes, Tevas, heated jacket liner, tools, electronics, etc. Pretty light I think.

KIMG0063.jpg I didn't weight the stuff I'd be wearing tomorrow. I also didn't weigh the front fender bag, which has a spare front tube, air compressor, tire tools, valve stem remover, and gauge.

Here are a couple pics to get a feel for the stuff I'm bringing along.

Clothing... Not taking Dave the cat with me...
Was back and forth on the heated liner due to all the space it takes up.. but decided to bring it with me since I never seem to use the sob.

    KIMG0065.jpg

All packed up... Shoes and a couple other things can hang outside the bag if I need more room later for junk I pick up..

Left the house pretty late. By noon I was finally on the TAT.. This next part is NSFW..but I saw a nice ass.

    KIMG0081.jpg

Had to stop and adjust my chain..Was hearing an awful racket.. apparently it stretched quite a bit.. Never saw that with one of these EK chains... Lost my cotter pin.. Used a zip tie.. KIMG0082.jpg

Got rained on a couple times..and came up on this road closure north of Taft... But is it really closed?

    KIMG0084.jpg

    Yes.. Yes it is..

    KIMG0086.jpg

Thought I saw a way around..but it was guarded by a bit of barb wire.. so I hit the slab and detoured to make some time..

Then picked the TAT back up..not really sure where..just lots of brown gravel and farmland.

Woman ran out in the road to stop me.. said there was a downed tree ahead from the storm last night.. she gave me some directions to go around.. But not until she asked me what I was doing. "I see you guys going through here all the time. Why? Where are you going?" I showed her the route. She was intrigued. This was all a bit before some Dam that began with a P just before Mississippi.

In Mississippi, I encountered a lot of logging operations.. and more red gravel..

Found a Subway around 730, decided to find a place to sleep. Looked at a map and booked a hotel on my phone. It didn't look very far away.

Then I realized it was a lot further than I thought.. 170 miles away from where I was..and now it was after 8...

Hit the highway for 3 hours to get to my room..absolutely miserable ride on knobs in the dark on the wet.. I just crossed the Mississippi into Arkansas and got to my motel at 1130.. The Delta Inn.. A bit sketchy, but cheap... Hope the bike is still outside in the AM..
    Covered nearly 500 miles today..

    Goodnight folks.. Screenshot_2018-07-15-00-17-05.png

That must have been a painful realization, 8 at night and 170 miles to go? Been there, done that, hate to see it happen to others.
