;) dont want to get eaten hiking around. The bear spray is how I'm justifying not carrying my P99.

Aiming for July 05-16. Probably more towards the 16th so I have a little more prep time.

In my research I called one of the moving places in OR and asked what it would cost to get a rental back to GA and it was around $1k:rofl

This is why we need more trails that loop back towards Jellico or northern states... There are plenty of routes to take but an organized trail system like the TAT would be epic.. who's up for it :rofl

Getting the bike back if you can't ride back is the deal breaker for many folks for sure...

Here's the DRZ loaded up for the Laurel Fork campout. Fully loaded for camping, not counting the 12-pack of Brooklyn Lager and the chair, the saddle bags and top case weighed in at 50 lbs total. I brought too much food and clothes with me, I'll pack less next time.

We are shakin' it in East. But don't let the East tag prejudice you, I have just completed a leg back to within 20 miles East of Mount Vernon IL, I hope to add and publish that with the OTC this weekend or early next week.

There are rumblings of a trans Canadian going on in a few threads.

Now I'm going to have to put some miles on this weekend to see how I like it. I know from Laurel Fork that 200+ miles on the stock seat hurts.

I have one on my 530EXC. The more you ride it the more comfortable it gets. Best money I have spent on the bike...so far!:D

Well...I think I just ordered the last of the parts/gear for the trip. New tires, brake pads, wheel bearings, chain tool, plus a few other small things.

Yeah, I was quoted $1300 so U-haul is probably out.

Anyone ever just bought a cheap truck out there and then sold it when they got back?

When I was getting prices, Penske was half the price of U-Haul!

Your best shot a a cheaper truck will be to head to a much larger city. Portland maybe. Just budget a few extra nights.

Sweet Seat BTW, me thinks $$ WELL spent.

4 of us are going to put our bikes in my old 1 ton dodge extended van and drive to Oregon. I plan to sell the van there and ride the TAT backwards. I would be glad to sell the van to other TAT riders cheap. We plan to do this in early August.
