    Day 2:
We headed South along the ocean, and the riding got better and better. We were recommended by Cal to take the ocean route all the way to Camalu - 50mi. The dirt road quickly turned into a windy 2 track skirting the ocean by only a few metres. 3051D29A-96FC-4E29-AD78-5061BA5CE874.jpeg
    BBDA8F13-76F3-4B2D-B2FC-085A1FD75DE4.jpeg

We past through little fishing settlements with houses made of tarp and lumber. Some people were out collecting bags of rounded sea stones including a 5 year old girl and boy.

A few short cuts later we found ourselves on ranch roads leading to an almost impassable knee deep mud/ cow crap hole. My 790 submarined through, but only barely, while my dad (Scotty) decided to open up a gated fence and go around. Smart guy.

Another “short cut” led us onto some private construction where we were chased off by a 1 armed quad driver. We managed to evade said 1 armed bandito.

Camalu for fuel and car wash for cow shit, then off down through Rosario.

But not before checking out La Lobera sea cave.

As the sun drew low and our shadows grew long on the highway, we high tailed it for Catavina. Disregarding speed limits as the traffic thinned out, we made good time making it to Catavina Mission hotel before sunset.

This turned out to be a gem of a hotel, an oasis in an empty patch of highway. Aside from the 2 storey tall saguaros that dot the alien landscape.

We had a chance to open the bikes up on the 2 track that was once Baja 1000. Loads of fun, looking forward to heading back towards some rural ocean routes tomorrow.

south along Punta Blanco, the surfing spot of Cardon and down to Santa Rosalillita. Sand turned to rock out crops, then into mud and then swampy beach sand. Great mix of riding, all to ourselves. 250km. Took a direct hit with a cactus testicle to the fuel line on the 1090. Slight seepage, trimmed off the nut hairs and on the way we went

Hitting the pavement we fueled up the pigs in Villa Jesus Maria.

Tacos in Guerrero Negro at Fish Taco Truck. Then onwards to San Ignacio for the night. We were waved through both military checkpoints today. B4B70644-7520-4541-93D5-8697F0A45E07.jpeg Hotel for the night: Desert Inn San Ignacio. There must be about 30 rooms and we are the only ones here aside from 1 family.

Nice report going , lucky the cactus spines were in the bike part. You wouldn't want them in your leg, ask me how I know!
And you picked a good time to leave BC, we have snow here now and more to come, don't rush home. cheers, Steve

Just upgraded to Garmin 276 from my 64s. No regrets, I can make split decision turns without having to pull over and zoom in on a little screen.

Love the concept of it. Way better than stock. But on hwy the wind shakes my helmet. Also just started to crack around bolt holes too. Way too thin

Exhaust hanger bolts rattled loose on the 1090. Aircraft wire fix for now. Hint: strip your bike down and locktite every single bolt on your bike when you buy it. 544CC942-FB6C-4D86-9D63-DA763617E3A4.jpeg B40377BB-1D58-4DD1-8625-4F9A99387CBC.jpeg
Off to Fuel. I bought us Guglatech fuel filters before the trip. I was sent the wrong one so ended up using it as a condom. On my dads bike the pumps are all too fast here and we have to pinch the hose to get a slower fill through the filter.

Next: 150km of sand. Baja claims its first victim. The key is to keep the speed above 50km, 60 if your ballsy.

Fishing Village El Datil. They do not see many tourists here as it is a heck of a ride to get here. The kids were ecstatic to get some stickers for their collection. A071A76F-52B8-4098-8831-91FD27E38E27.jpeg 6C2CD3FD-69A4-4C40-BB6F-FC81A9B95E3F.jpeg
Just realized the little blonde one was giving me the finger. He really didn’t want his picture taken but his brother dragged him in. And maybe he wanted candy instead.

Last update was when we stopped for lunch at San Juanico. A very beautiful little town with a great restaurant that served shrimp burgers. One of my favourite spots so far. 4B02989D-FE06-4EA1-B63A-06E2E25A3E4F.jpeg

Return of the cactus. Thorns went right through my leather boots and into my foot, ouch. 8FD2C7BE-C919-43FD-A274-4E9EED132AF6.jpeg

After the sand we were pretty much spent.
6EB1F222-C78D-4CEC-A9F9-5DA9FDEF54F5.jpeg So we slabbed it to Mex 53 then down to Ciudad Constitucion. We had originally planned to be camping a few nights, but the nights are cold (used my heated grips every morning so far) and the wind can be nasty. Maybe the Cortez side will be better for tenting it.

Was that the new burro restaurant in scorpion bay? I haven'[t been there since it was rebuilt. I had a spine break off in my calf and pop out three months later, got a cool scar now...
