Looking forward to hear how that Xplor Pro suspension delivers over the stock R or if it does.

Maybe looking forward to reading about this. Just hoping the Xplor Pro is not too much better than stock Xplor as my bank account would not like that:)

    Hi Paul!!

As you know I was a Yamaha guy. But the 990 put the orange virus on me and the develop for the T7 was too long.

My Yamaha dealer wants me to try one and I refuse. If I like it I will be really angry to buy the 790 and if not I need to explain and he is going to be angry...

I'm really happy with my 790R so better not to try anything else

A custom spring and valve job on both ends of the stock R gear will be way cheaper, and will likely suit you better, especially if you have a history with the local suspension shop.
If not, you gotta start somewhere...

KTM or Yami, whatever puts the smile on your face makes no difference what the bike is. Take care!

The video really shows the bottoming resistance difference well. Is it really noticeable from the riders seat?

The stock ones are really good. The problem is when you try the Pro. Then you think the stock aren't so good. So if you don't want to spend 6.000 euros it is better not to try them.
The main difference it is when you push really hard. With the Pro it is really difficult arrive to the end. They are very good.
But I'm not convince with the rear suspension of this bike. Even with the Pro I find them too short of travel.

KTM Spain lend me the bike with the Pro suspension. I was disapointed as the travel is 240mm as the standard Xplor. They said that the 270mm suspensions aren't in KTM plans.

Was thinking the same thing Jaumev... was happy to see the lower seat height to accomodate 300mm of future travel. Not sure how much Rebel X was able to get out of that Kapriony team bike, and not sure if the rear is the limiting factor? A friend has beefed up exc suspension on his 9 and it is at another level. Tall, but you can hit g-outs and higher speed jumps or drops and the landings arent even an afterthought. Lot less brake checks, and more freedom.

Regardless... muchas gracias for your time and the write up for those of us that wont get the chance for the comparison :)

I had a 990R with 245mm travel and changed for a 990 S with 265. That 20mm make the difference. But I am only 1,78 m tall and not very strong so that bike was too much for me when I was in troubles. The 790 is the perfect combination for my high but I miss more travel suspension. Live is hard!! ;)
The Pro are an improvement but I'm not sure if it is enough improvement to spend such a lot of money... Since I try them I can't sleep well!! :baldy:baldy:D

Too funny... you only live once so who cares. Like others have said, you can just pass it off to a tuner to stiffen things up as well. It is surprising that the 270 mm of travel was just a typo/misunderstanding? One would think there would be more of a market for it? Especially considering the potential of this platform.

By the way... your past work over the years with the yamaha's has been appreciated as well. I am sure there are quite a few of us that appreciate your efforts. The attention to detail was top notch. Good luck with the 790.
