Well, from personal information experience, I can say that the "no gates" is not 100% accurate. When I ran the TeT and TeT-S a few years ago, I did hit a few closed gates. They were all forest service gates for roads that were closed at the time. Rerouting was pretty easy with a Zumo 550.

I'm sure nobody wants to go over his head, but its becoming riding season soon.

Can we start redistributing at this point? Is it safe to say that he's not involved with the TeT maps anymore?

Why is this route so scary secret?
Why is it for verified members only?
Why do you get the pdf, reply, wait, then get the gpx?

It seems extremely child like & people want the route.

I noticed your other map is posted in a straight forward logical manner.

Please do the same for this route. It's ridiculously frustrating at this point as Chip can't handle the distribution job but, I'll bet dropbox can do it easily.

Thanks in advance & happy trails.

I would say it's up to those two how or if they share it with us at all? It's a bit of work to put that together IMHO. What I don't understand is that Chip doesn't make a statement here when or what to expect time wise on his end. There are a bunch of us hoping to get something, which gets more or less frustrating for the individual.

A simple update would be real helpful...

If anyone could provide me with the TWVT or TET files, I'd appreciate it - we're planning on leaving on this Tuesday to do the TWVT portion of the TET, and not needing to reverse engineer the trail route from the limited data that actually IS available, would be a big help. - caker@theshore.net

    Thanks,

Chip came up with idea that we build a long north/south route on the east coast since there are two on the west coast - CDR and PCQ.

He was asking for volunteers to help build it, got some lists of people that said they would help, etc.

I stepped up and said I'd do the southern half - I've helped put on enduro's and qualifiers since the mid 70s.

Chip wanted to control distribution of the finished product because he was concerned about the tree huggers getting it and targeting it to try to close down sections of the route. Mind you, the route is on public roads (pretty much). But if the greenie weenies can get some of the back roads that we used closed - I'm sure they'll try!

Anyways, I started on the southern half with a vengeance, the other folks in the area mostly were tied up, so I just did it. When I expanded the route to include the loop around Georgia, Chip forwarded to me tracks from TreeMan that I used across north Florida.

Anyways, the current version of TET-S is V5.0. I released it last summer, there is a post in this thread of when I did so.

Don't know the status of TET, that's Chips baby, you'll have to talk to him.

Makes absolute sense to me... I totally agree with this setup for those above mentioned reasons!

So, as I plan, how many miles per day is reasonable? Is 200 miles per day reasonable for the TET-S? :ear

He's catching up on it I think. I had to wait several months but it did get out.

So, for those who have ridden the whole loop, for planning purposes, which route from Carabelle would be more challenging going up through Alabama or going through Georgia?

    Great Thread!
filled out the form and fingers crossed hoping to get a copy of the TetS routes!
I live almost on the NC portion and it would love to explore the route north and south.

In the meantime if anyone has some good alternate gpx routes in Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, or Northern South Carolina that would be awesome. I've done some searching but current recommendations would be great. feel free to PM me. I ride a KLR650 with knobby tires and soon to have a full cogent dynamics suspension :clap

    Thanks!
    Happy Trails,
    Brady

I would say that the route through Georgia is more challenging. The route through Alabama can get monotonous zigzagging back and forth to hit dirt roads. I found all of Florida fun though. You just have to know how to ride on sand.
