The DR is gone. Next bike will be a XT250 Yamaha. My long distance days are numbered. Gonna use the XT for exploring the areas I set up camp at with the van. Best of everything for me now....easy traveling between places I want to see...nice comfy bed...nice toilet onboard...AC and furnace when needed...no more sleeping on the ground. I’m on the road traveling full time now. Leaving Fl and the heat on Thursday morning. Gonna stop by GPAX’s place that night for a visit with my buddy Greg. Life is good.

M2! I had an older XT350 for a while and it was a fun bike. 1Cyl and 2 carbs, wow that thing would run when you juiced that second carb! Then my eldest son returned home from one of his deployments to the sandbox(a few of years ago) and he easily talked me out of it. I had less than 1g into it, he traded me a nice Springfield 1911 for it. Welcome home Son & happy Dad! :{)

If your riding, it shouldn't matter what brand is between your legs or the guy you might give a friendly gesture to as you pass each other on the way to somewhere. However, some roads require both hands on the bars, so I often don't wave back if I'm preoccupied with keeping my self upright.

Tewster I have been following your post since you started posting your travels to Alaska. I own a Roadtrek 4x4 and haul a Kawasaki KLX 250. I'm also leaving Florida around March 2020, In route to the west coast. Looking at some property In Pinetop Arizona, once I settle in next year your welcome to stop in for some R&R, maybe hit the trails in the area.

    Safe travels,
    Erod

XT250 is a terrific choice. Be sure to stop by the forum over at XT225.com. That group started with the XT225 but over time has grown into a tremendous resource on the XT250.

Just wondering if anyone could recommend a 12 step program or a good counselor......reference, going cold turkey with no more long distance Tewster ride reports???

Loved having Tim stay for a night at our place in Duhrango. Truly a wise and knowledgeable guy and just good old fun shooting the shit for a few. My turn to hook up at three step while you still can. Doing a bro ride for 4 days then off to GS Giants in Dolores for some fun days and nights. Might see Tim in Silverton right after that and try out this quad buggy as it sounds like my next move anyway.

I had an XT225 that I mounted on the front of my Ford Excursion with a 33' travel trailer on the back. I added a high compression piston, cam from Webcam, titaniam valve springs, RDL seat and a Clarke tank. Got the power where I needed it, but it was a little twitchy at 70. The 250 probably has some improvement in chassis dynamics. I could never get an upgrated carb to work. Great bike for exploring an area while RVing.
