Made the mistake of riding a buddies 2009 200XC back to back with my 350EXC. The 200 made my 350 feel incredibly lazy. More work to keep speed up on the 200, but VERY rewarding doing so. :ricky

Picked up an 02 200EXC a week ago, probably just fix it up and sell it on.

Looked like this when I got it.

I swapped some stuff over for stuff I had laying around (I had to buy a new rear fender though) and now looks like this.

    Thanks!
My first two stroke. I usually ride something 300 lbs plus, occasionally an xr250/280 for rocks, mountains.

I will say about the Kdx, .. I am ..impressed. For something so old (though it does have cartridge forks, usd) it performs very well. It's plated, and that makes it very useful.

Was recently pleasantly surprised by the fuel economy.. I rode out from Barstow with a buddy on his 450exc to the Husky monument. On the trip out I wasn't hitting it hard, trying to preserve fuel, it hustling thru terrain at a good clip. Brought an extra half gallon gas with me just in case. When I knew I'd make it back, and was in range, I didn't spare the whip, flogged it thru the sand traps, hills, berms, gave my buddy a work out on that exc! Made eighty six miles and didn't hit reserve! So, with the fuel left in the bike and the half gallon, the bike is good for some distance, 120 miles or so..about what the xr280 is good for but a whole lot more fun.

Still need a little practice on rocky snotty hills fanning the clutch, different than an xr.

That lake was frozen. About an inch and a half of ice on the lake, enough to support me and the bike. However the surface was so frictionless that you could barely stand on it, barely push the bike out there, had to push it back to solid ground to kick start. Glad you like the photos.

    Peace,

Not happy ktm shit canned the 200 for a 150,dirtbike said it doesn't have the torque of a 200 more of a scream n shift race bike.At 42 I don't want to have to rev a bike to the moon where only dogs can hear to attain forward motion. Not really into 4 pokes only reason I'd buy one is for street legality as being a dirtbiker in nj is seen as being more of a criminal then the gangs we have here

I have had a few KDX 200s and a 220. They really are a great single track bike, but at my size 6'5" 220 lbs. they were just bit underpowered unless they were wound very tight. If I were to get another 2 stroke for dirt work I think the KDX would be at the top of the list.

Got a new-to-me 2010 KTM200XC-W last week. First KTM, and first 200cc 2 stroke. Started out looking for a KDX then ended up getting this thing. Very happy so far, although I've only ridden it for about an hour. Weather's been bad around here.

Just found this thread & figured I'd post pics of my recently purchased KDX. I can't wait to ride this spring. After lifting this & then my XR on the stand it makes me want to find a nice light KTM 200 but then I don't know which bike I'd get rid of to fund the purchase.
