So, it wasn't bike's fault but someone else's, right?
Time to update this thread with latest info on the topic of '20 R18C (not GS for now): https://www.motorcycle.com/mini-features/2020-bmw-r1800c-production-models-spied.html
It looks like it's really happenin'... I mean new Cruiser w 1.8L air-oil cooled boxer...
I dunno it's kinda cool looking. Be a good candidate for a similarly styled hack with a gas tank to get it someplace. Not for much else besides a trip to the store or a weekend cruise.
Kinda like it. However, have no idea what I would do with it. Was going to do a bmw cafe racer project. However, not sure where I would ride it. So I never did.
Good God that's an ugly bike.
"She" may be good lookin' but how does "she" cook ie. ride - that's the question...
Looks like they dumbed it down, more like an R1200C.
Maybe, but a LOT better riding than the OP's monstrosity!
Still think this should stay in Road warriors where two other threads are. It isn't a GS in any way shape or form!
Today, Oct 17th, I rode over to Daytona, Florida and actually saw a R18 at the local BMW dealership - Right there on the placard, it clearly said. "There is a three tattoo minimum and you must dress like a pirate to ride this thing." As you may or may not know, Daytona Bike Week is the High Holy for HD riders, so showing the R18 there was a good idea.
EDIT: Please note there is NO pillion seat, so whoever buys/rides this thing can not or will not have girl friend.
I like it. I own an HD Low Rider S so I'm not in the market, but I think the styling is on point generally speaking and if I didn't have a cruiser, I'd seriously consider it. But man, the lean angle is probably determined by the boxer valve covers LOL! Oh and they need to ditch the chrome in favor of black.
It’s definitely not my thing but it is beautiful.
^^As someone has already pointed out, the lean angle will be dictated by the width and size of the pistons. It may take a 40 acre field to make a 180º turn on this thing? Be that as it may, it certainly is a stunning design exercise.
Yep BMW riders dress up in gear, Harley riders undress to show ink and fur. I own both and I have no fur or ink but I own lots of Klim gear and Harley T shirts. One short story if I may. My sister in law has MS and is unable to walk, we occasionally put her on the back of my brothers motorcycle because she loves to go for a ride. I led a group of four up to the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon because she had never seen it. Once there we scratched our heads because you have to go down a few steps to get to the lookout. There were several geared up adv riders there taking selfies and a group of Harley riders standing there smoking cigarettes and carrying on. As soon as we got her off the bike and started towards the steps the Harley group threw down there cigarettes and immediately asked if we needed assistance. Next thing you know 4 Harley guys carried her right to the edge of the lookout in front of the others so she could see. The old saying don’t judge a book by it’s cover will forever be in my mind.
I just think the Harley uniform is odd and unsafe for its intended use. I don’t judge the person personally. I have many friends who wear the Harley uniform and ride the bikes.
Wow, I think the R18 is fantastic! I hope to see that motor in a mainstream touring rig as per past spy pics.
Do I want an R18? Probably not but maybe.
It's okay to like more than one type or brand of bike!!!
I'm uneducated guess on the five members of the R18 family mention in the video should be; Bobber, Bagger, Cafe, Street Scrambler and Standard.
I'm still holding out for this:
By the way-to the original posting of this thread- I do not expect that motor in a GS format. But, who knows?
