Ok, I've been running the extension version now for a little bit. I keep getting the following errors:

    "Error: match is null"
    "Error: navTd is null"

Tried taking a look at the code, but nothing obvious stands out to me. Any ideas?

Nope. I don't plan to use the "extension-ized" version either. You're on the bleeding edge of the bleeding edge now. :D

I have installed greasemonkey and then added your script and it's not working for me on Firefox 3.5. I checked Tools, Greasemonkey, and I see the de-crufter there, but it's not appearing as it should at the top, under new reply, or anywhere else.

    Any ideas? :ear

    Hey GB,

I've been using 3.5 for a while now and the script seems to work OK.

Does the checkbox appear when you view page 1 of any thread?

If not, try uninstalling the script: Tools -> Greasemonkey -> Manage User Scripts..., select the ADV De-crufter from the list, then check the checkbox for "Also uninstall associated preferences", then click the Uninstall button.

Reinstall the script and see if that helps. If not, we'll go to plan B. :)

No checkbox on the first page, and I have uninstalled and installed to no avail. :(:

    I hope you have a plan B :lol2

What about an "ignore thread started by x,y,z user?"

I think the forum already has that feature, no? View profile -> ignore user?

Tbolt, thanks a million for the hard work on this. Just installed it, and thought it still wasn't working after a couple of re-starts. Then I noticed that the "show only" checkbox is way down at the bottom left on the page on ShakeIt skin. :freaky

    Mad props. :beer

That does not hide the threads that the ignore user starts.

    Great program--thanks.

I am having an issue in that I can click the box for only the author's posts, but the same number of pages are showing for the thread. When I click to the second or subsequent pages, there may not be any posts. Is there a way to change the layout so that the author's posts will run through the first 10 pages or so of a normal 50 page ride report?

    Short answer: no.

I'd have to write a script that could predict the future, and if I did that, well, I'd soon be the richest person on the planet, and if I were that rich, I'd be out riding until the money ran out and not right here writing nasty ADV hacks. :lol3

(Fine print technical answer for all you nitpicky geeks: yes, there is a way to do it via xmlrpc, but it would be nasty and terrible and would most likely piss off Baldy. And no one wants that.)

You can choose to increase the number of posts displayed per page from your User Control Panel (change from "use forum default" to some higher number). The caveat is that it's site-wide, so threads that you haven't de-crufted will have a lot of replies per page, which could be an issue if you have a slow connection.

or, narrative is as narrative does. the thread is the whole story, not just the owner's (or anyone else you consider 'more significant' than others) portion. that's jest how 'tis, ya know?:D

As I've said before, if this add-on doesn't appeal to you, there's nothing forcing you to install it.
