Opa is rearing to go.
I will be checking in on you young guys, since the 70 line is well behind me!
It sounds like you two have found a fun way to create rides, food! I did the same with my friend Verle Nelson in CO (May he rest in Peace!) We could do a three day ride, like meet in WY ride on to ID for a ChilliCheeseBurger; since he could only leave for three days at a time, as his other half had physical issues.

The camping part of the test ride is complete. Too durn old & feeble to camp. We're at the motel
We have back and forthed forever on this camping. We had rather thought we could ride longer by saving some $ by camping. I believe we have finally put that one to bed . We have no further ambitions to camp.
Oh yeah, it's to drop 29 * F tonight. There are gale warnings. The wind has been altoghether too Oklahoma for us today!
You have had very unfortunate weather on the last two test camping trips. If the weather had been better would it have made a difference??
I gotta keep up with you guys. Next time you wanna take a local'ish motorcycle camping trip (and if you actually want company) I'd love to join the club. I'm mostly riding a Weestrom these days as the KLR was a little too basic for me on the pavement.
As Opa stated earlier, we have come to the conclusion the we are too old and feeble to camp any longer. From now on we will be roughing it at the Holiday Inn.
After a good nites rest in Elezibeth City last nite we began our morning at the Wright Brothers monument are currently workin our way south down the outer banks on rt12. The weather has turned cold and it has been in the low 40s and very windy all day. Had a great burger just before entering the Hatteras Nationl Seashore.
This was a great burger.
Saw some nice fishing boats.
and a couple of nice light houses.
I hear you. At my age credit card camping works fine.
A few shots from yesterday, well maybe last two days.
On the way to Augie's, prancing stallion in the river, Pacolet, SC
Broad River outside Hickory Grove, SC
George's place. He has a Tent Space offer that we had hoped to use. We chickened. And proud of it!
You do realize that if we actually could tent it, we couldn't do these little updates.....
Crossing Albemarle Sound into Kitty Hawk, NC.
The memorial atop Big Kill Devil Hill. The Wrights tested and perfected their gliders off this hill before actually flying under power. I read that once they figured out their yaw problem they performed an additional 600 glides off the hill. Don't know how many preceded that. Walking up the hill each time, lugging their craft!
Couple shots of a sculpture in the park.
Driving down the road
Bodie Island Lighthouse. 1872.
Bridge repairs from earlier storms
Looking the other way, toward the Atlantic
This guy appeared to be hung up (run aground). Stirring up a lot of mud trying to back out of it.
Cape Hatteras Light House as seen from the porch of the light house helpers' house.
Beach scenes from the original site of the light house. About a half a mile from where it is now. They moved it around 1999......
If you two had a dollar for every time you've changed your mind about camping versus staying in hotels, you could stay at the Four Seasons every night.
Nice photos! Ride safe, my friends.
Nice trip. This is one part of NC many folks don't go out of their way for. I've always loved the OBX. Heading there in May for kitesurfing trip w the guys.
We did see one kitesurfer while working our way down Hatteras, somewhere.......
Today was more about ferry boat rides than motorcycle rides. I refer you back to post #24 for the Spotwalla. For those interested, you can change the settings to see more or less of the ride.
At the Hatteras ferry to Ocracoke. Motorcycles to the front, so you can load last.
