Here's some from Cape Hatteras Light House
So we got home Saturday a week ago. I had a great day at church the next day.
Been sick ever since...........
Here's one I posted on 'your bike at a train station'
Gibson, NC. Sure looks like it catered to King Cotton back in the day.
Hope you're feeling better soon. I'm headed out of town tomorrow for the weekend to visit family. Catch up with you when I get back.
Sometime back around '72 the Army gave me a flu shot. I was in Germany. Spent a week in bed.........
Being a ward of the VA, I respond with 'No!' when asked if I want a flu shot.
Thinking that next time I may say............ Yes.
Have a safe & fun trip!
The next to the last day of the Kitty Hawk ride, I lost my National Parks Service Old Goat's Pass. It flew out of the map pocket on my tank bag, and I was too slow figuring out what I saw (peripherally) to have any success finding it.
They don't sell the passes at all parks, so I went to the Carl Sandburg Home in Flat Rock, NC.
If you are 62 or over and don't have a Senior Pass, you may want to go ahead and get one. The girl that sold me mine ($10.00) told me they didn't know when, but sometime this year the pass cost will increase to $80.00. This is a one time expense, as long as you don't lose it...........
Saw this in downtown Saluda, NC.

Some shots from the Wright Brothers National Memorial.
Of course Loren, I'm sure you're aware that a Kiwi actually beat Orville and Wilbur to fly but it's nice that they got all
Carry on good sir! Loving the report.
But then I couldn't ride my motorcycle to New Zealand. More's the pity looking at your ride photos!
Just don't tell me that movie I saw about Burt Munro isn't true......
I'd say spending a week in bed beats digging latrines....
You say that like you think the Army gives a sh**!
Looking at your map, I'd suggest going due North from Santa Fe and ride the Million $ highway thru Colorado, then west thru Utah. I'll have fresh tires, oils for your horses and beers for y'all when you get to California.
Getting closer to time! Working out the details on the new tires for the trip.
And trying hard to use the rest of these tires up!
We probably will do some riding in CO before we get to CA. After CA we are supposed to meet a friend from home and do some riding around WY, ID, MT, or somewhere............. We have a few days to add to our agenda as my son from CA will be coming back to SC to attend the oldest granddaughter's high school graduation. I already gave her my gift, and thanked her for graduating!
I decided I will re-tire the bike before leaving, thus being able to make the whole trip on one set. Still hate wasting tire tread though.......
Reading the linked Wiki article it sounds like the Kiwi wasn't very sure of what or when he did anything in 1903-1904.
Looks like an awesome trip! Love OBX.
Thanks! I had never visited the Outer Banks, Augie had. We just sort of thought we would make the year's ride truly coast to coast. I'm sure the OBX would be eat up with folks when school is out. It was entirely pleasant for our visit.
We will be in some of the Rockies sometime this trip.
Thanks for the report - and love the story and international incident created about who flew first - I guess in history its about " he who tweets the most wins"
This should be Opa's signature photo!
I guess its time to start this years trip. I'm sitting here in Spartanburg SC in Opas living room writing this report. Tomorrow morning we will offically began.
After our test trip to Cape Hatteras, there is not going to be any camping on this trip. We are too old and camping is no fun to either of us anymore.
We have quiet an ambitious trip planned this year. We are going to go to Garden Grove California traveling 2 lane back roads, crossing the Mississippi river on a ferry in Hickman KY. Opa loves ferrys, Ha Ha. From there we plan to wind our way accross the central US dropping down toward southern Ca. South of Moab Utah. From there we are planning to work our way back over into southern Colorado meet up with another ridding buddy from home and head north up thru Wyoming and Montana. We are going to cross the border north of Glacier Park into Canada riding rt 93 thru the Iceland Parkway
Hope u all will stay tuned and follow along. Should be an intresting adventure.
