I had to pop the rubber grommet thing out of the brake hose holder on my 2016.Hose just made it then. Some readjusting was needed to wires and such.

a few days ago, almost got taken out twice, 5 minutes apart by inattentive motorists.

normally, to announce or let them know my presence, i will pull the clutch in and rev the engine a couple of times. on my DCT can't do it. i'm starting to teach myself to keep the left thumb next to the horn as an alternative.

i think a louder exhaust would improve the situation.

ride safe and never keep your guards down.

I threw a soundbomb on mine. That gets their attention.

Added the soundbomb and that seemed to wake up the neighborhood after that...safe riding!

I used the Denali mount for the compact soundbomb. Worked out well, but in a bad drop on the left I am a little worried about the crashbars bending into the horn and damaging the threads since the mount utilizes two bolts/holes from the crankcase cover on the left side. The horn itself almost touches my SW Motech crashbars, but hopefully the mount would just bend toward the cylinder and/or the horn plastic break and not damage the holes/cover. Not too worried about the horn (easy to replace), but having to easyout/drill out and then helicoil/timesert those holes would kind of suck.

You didn't ask, but I'll throw in a plug for the Eastern Beaver PC8 and Powerlink system. Wiring stuff into that battery compartment is the stuff nightmares are made of so running one set of leads to the PC8 and never touching it again unless the battery needs to be replaced beats the hell out of the alternative (stuffing a bunch of connections into that box). I used the powerlink AT battery leads and then the powerlink splitter (one side to the PC8 and one side to the soundbomb) and then ran EB's high power horn kit to the soundbomb. While I was in there I went ahead and replaced the battery ('16 model) so I can go the maximum amount of time without touching it again. I'm also running an SAE tender plug (non-switched), Oxford grips, Denali DR1s, a Gerbing's heated gear pigtail and a dual USB/voltmeter (switched) through the PC8. Nice bit of kit.

I installed a pair of Hella high low tone disks in place of the stocker. 114db gets cagers attention. Sounds like. German rally car. Wired through a relay and a PC8 fusebox. Looks like a stock installation.

It has been awhile since I have done it, and the bike is not with me right now. But I do not think I had to splice into wires at all. It plugged right in with blade-style electrical terminals and mounted right up. Don't quote me on that, as I have drank and slept since! The mini soundbomb or the hella horn were the only two options that seemed to work better for my riding style.

Also, nothing saying you have to use the Denali mount. I just did because I am lazy and don't ride my AT off-road very often. I installed a Denali split soundbomb horn on another bike and it tucks up nicely under the plastics so you can't even tell it is there. The split model splits the compressor and the horn into two separate components that are a bit easier to mount/hide and includes a length of rubber hose that you use to connect the two. Just another option to consider.

He doesn't really ride it off road, but with all of those miles he has done no suspension work or maintenance and reports no problems with function. :hide
