Probably depends on the specific tire. I've had no issue with the stock height fender and a TKC80.

MotoZ Adventure, so similar to the 80. Clears well even at the back of the fender? I've seen pics that look like you couldn't fit a pinky finger through the gap back there with an aggressive tire. Little close for my liking.

I had trouble with mud being an issue packing up inside the factory fender. I went ahead and installed a high frt. fender kit. Problem solved. 20190516_154420.jpg 20190516_154435.jpg

    +1 on the high fender
I did mine to swap to a 19" front wheel. I try very hard to avoid mud on a big bike.

no fender shake at high speeds?
i dropped the bike in some soft florida sand. it my fault i was in traction control low and forgot to turn it off. I knew it was going to be tough and when i tried to wheel speed it, it just just cogged. and it flopped over.
picked it up and rode off after i disabled it. fear of dropping is now over lol

I'm going to try and run the MotoZ tires with the stock fender. I think I'd jump to the Altrider lift kit if needed before going full blown high fender.

I hate to say it, but time to say "goodbye" to my '17 Africa Twin. I've owned it for a little over two and a half years, which is a VERY long time for me to hold onto a single bike. I bought it new as a left over model in 2019 and used it about 80% street and 20% dirt roads and figured I'd see if life was any greener in the GS pasture. Bought my very first BMW last weekend. The GS is a one owner 2018 model with only 2500 original miles.

The AT is way better in the dirt but the BMW is a fine street bike indeed. Sounds like a good match for your riding habits.

One thing I have to say is that even though the GS is a bit heavier than the AT, it actually feels WAY lighter. Must be the lower center of gravity with those huge cylinders sticking out on either side.

It didn't take long for my AT to sell. Posted on the local Craigslist at around 5:30 in the afternoon, and by 7:30 that night it was sold. I ended up getting $11,600 for it, which I didn't think was too bad. Not like most of the huge hits I get when selling a used bike.

After a few months to get comfortable on the GS some comparison thoughts would be appreciated I'm always curious how bikes compare especially from someone who has lived with them for a while not just an afternoon test ride.

So My wife just surprised me with a pretty well set up very low mile 2017 AT.. I'll post pics a bit later, but have to say It is everything I thought it would be.. a quick question, How do you check the level of the coolant in the reserve tank by the brake pedal I suppose.. I see online there is a high and low mark but cant quite make anything out? Nothings leaking or dripping I just like to get my ducks in a row so I can be proper with it..
