this won’t be my first camper refurb rodeo. However, this will be the first aluminum framed camper refurb. It’s just seen 20 years of dirt road abuse. All good. I even have to resize it to fit the modern truck. A new one is close to $20k, which I don’t have. Im hoping I’m into this 5-6k all in. We’ll see.

And here’s some more, but I don’t want to clutter up this thread with this. Just saying, nothing is impossible.

I used to have a 1964 Ford Econoline Travelwagon camper with a instant up all metal pop top. Loved that thing, so when I retired the van and sent it off to the scrap yard I kept the pop top and used it to make a camper for my old Toyota pickup. It pops up in 1 second from inside and folds down to about 6" above the truck cab. No nylon tent to set up in the rain, flap in the wind, or degrade in the sun. Still working after 55 years. Small but really works great for one person. I spend winters in it in Arizona.

Would love to see a modern similar design for sale.

68 ranchero. My buddy at work that’s his trailer. We did the whole trailer in 3 months. Nights and weekends only. But it was 7 days a week. That’s also his ranchero.

Don't hold your breath -I think they utilize an all-aluminum frame for only the hinged portion - says the rest of it is the same construction as their pop-up line - which is laminated plastic over OSB.

I had a palomino pop up for five years, kept it dry and still had water intrusion kill it. :|

The ready to roll is appealing and minimal foo foo stuff, at my age probably last as long as I'll need one. :lol3 I was offered one a few years ago that mice had gotten into. :puke1 :nah

I really liked my Palomino Bronco - and it almost lasted as long as my second marriage! :D Having experience with the full pop-up, I'm not sure how well I would like the wedge.

I certainly miss this setup - used it damn near every weekend and every vacation for four years.

I am thinking of selling my Tacoma and getting a mid 90's Suburban and turning it into a "Suburban Teardrop".

Just whipped up this 4x8’ dolly to support the camper while being stored. It will also allow me to be inside the camper to de construct the inside before I tear apart the outside.

Can you flatten the rear seat and sleep. What's the distance from the back of the passenger seat to the rear door.

I really like the small enclosed trailer. That is the perfect set-up. I have an open trailer but a small enclosed trailer would be just the ticket for the bikes & gear.

Yep . you can drop the rear seat with a slight bump up ( with it folded). Length is 5’9”. If I remove the bottom of the flipped up seat I can gain another 4” ?? in total length. I plan on doing some 4x4 in Colorado and Utah when I retire.

here is an internet image of how the rear seats fold up...
