Nice, an Alta thread! I remember when the Alta MX-R came to New Zealand in April and made its debut as the first electric MX bike to be raced in the country. I did the write up for it and have been a fan of them since then. Super cool!
Took my Alta up in the mountains yesterday for a mellow half day ride. Battery lasted 26 miles, I probably could have gotten another 3-4 miles out of it. I usually get 40 mixed riding on flatter terrain in warmer weather. The bike did great, I love this thing. - Eddie
yeah, it’s been a year and a couple weeks since they shut their doors. We have a pretty good EV community here.
And we still have about 1000 Alta bikes in circulation. Those are not going away any time soon. They are being used and the owners love them.
https://altaownersforum.com/ There's a post on there about this bike that can be bought for 4K. Tempting. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/796852547377136/
Consider me the Johnny Appleseed of e-dirt bikes. My street nickname is Eddie Altaseed. Converting them one test ride at a time I am.
I was playing Alta ambassador at starvation ridge, with a few new friends. While we didn't get a picture of all 6 together, I was whiteness to 6 Alta's together in the wild.
Good eye, Feather Duster, ‘74 if memory serves, daily driver for one of the youngsters in my riding club. One day we had the Duster and a sweet Charger R/T up there, impromptu Mopar day at the property, Lol. Some pics if you’re interested: https://edb.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/MMXC/i-gPNXZPL/A
Trying to connect trails on my 2018 Alta MXR via an old trail section. Classic dangling foot dab into the air around the 10 second mark. "Where's the gound?! I'm going down!" Lol.
Pretty much single handedly keeping the flame of this thread alive. I'll have to see what I can do to back you up here...
I rode mine today. Sweet dirt. And yesterday. Sweet dirt. Tomorrow chores. I will ride Sunday. On any Sunday, eh?
Hi. I own multiple gas bikes, and ready to get my first electric vehicle . Want something quiet for my daily 3 mile commute , and some short weekend fun in the woods. I loved the Alta the first minute they came out, and was very bummed when they went out of business. There is one for sale a few hundred miles away from me in Seattle. Is this still the best dirt oriented dual sport to get, or should i wait for something else ? I know nothing about EV . What happens when time comes and i need a new battery, or some other parts?
It is a real kick ass dirtbike. Nothing like it. I just created a two mile loop around my neighborhood, only a couple hundred yards of pavement. Only one hater yelled at me. I will modify the track behind a tree so he can’t see me. my TM 250 2 Stroke is not so stealth. And it is a pain to ride by comparism. So there.
