Do you have a problem with those gills hurting your knees? The couple times I've ridden a Redshift they always dig into my knee and get's painful after a bit of riding. Couldn't they have designed it a little less pointier.

I hear the MX guys complain about the shrouds hurting their knees, but it doesn't seem to be such an issue with the trail riders. As a trail rider, I don't notice the shrouds at all. It's largely down to riding style I think, I don't tend to grip that far forward with my knees.

MX guys wear knee braces or at least knee pads. The complainers are trail riders who do not wear any protection.

But yeah, those ridges are in the wrong place.

Some people just remove those shrouds and ride without them. I actually prefer the feel of the bike without the shrouds.

I hate them but my knee guards work fine for minimizing the discomfort while trail riding.

We have whole threads over on the alta owners forum discussing alternative molds and ideas on how to modify them, Lol.

And they really don't serve much purpose since there's no radiators to funnel cooling air into anyway. Some guys even remove them completely which I will probably do if I destroy mine.

I did ride it with knee/shin guards and still hurt. Has to do with your body size too I guess. For me it hurts. :(

Bad "radiator shrouds" is not a good reason to not buy and ride an otherwise amazing bike. I would cut those ribs with a hack saw, or remove the shrouds completely, or buy more protective knee guards, or invest into knee braces.

I like this Alta hauler setup. Throw an EV West e-drive conversion kit on it, would be killer, Lol.
