Would be too small id say mate. It is tiny. About the same dia as a .22 shell only longer and no step/shoulder.
I haven't read through this thread so don't jump down my throat if it has already been mentioned, but there is a $300 fine for "carry/use/possess" a metal detector in National Parks in NSW. Just so you know.
New area today. Wow, did they work this area hard. Any wonder with the thousands of OZ‘s found. The addits are simply amazing. Have a look at the size of the mullock heaps and there are a few of these. Deep addits with branches heading off everywhere. Addits falling in. With the iron i have found, no detector has been in here. I need a decent coil in the 14”/15” size. I ran the Minelab 11” mono. GB 285 mostly, ‘B’ at null (51), ‘A’ at 80. Could have run ‘A’ at 90 but i was flicking ‘B’ through from 50 to 52 so just left it at 80. Mode 1 with gain at 5. FFS’s at a decibel of about 98. Quantity? Shit loads. Nearly as many as my nails....FFS.
303 blank cartridges, one bullet and a burnt ballpoint pen, found with the QED in a WWII training area on private land in FNQ. I was showing the QED to a friend and these shells were all over the place. After the war scavengers cleaned up most of the spent brass on ranges, but missed a lot. He showed me a cache of dozens of live 303 rounds found there a week ago.
Seriously the best. I have a few in the back of the ute. A slightly shorter one using a plough disc head. Nice light pick that one. Im having troubles getting hardwood dowel now that we have a 5k radius lockdown. I have slightly thinner hardwood dowel for the smaller picks though. @bikeymikey70 when i get sorted ill get back to you mate. Al.
My heaviest pick so far. Leaf spring, hardwood handle. You dont really need a pick this heavy duty but some people want them. Fair enuff if you are tuff on your gear. This is what a fellow detector wanted. The Plough disc pick is light and durable.
