Back side of Big Bear accessed from Hesperia. The hills are riddled with single track some technical but not to difficult IMO.

Mutt. So....how is it out there? Curious if this last bit of rain has dried up yet.

Still lots of wet dirt! I was out yesterday scouting routes between north Lucerne Valley and Daggett/ Newberry Springs and had perfect dirt all day. Any where that gets a lot of traffic will have dust by the end of this weekend though.
The dry lakes are pretty full of water!

anyone out and riding during the week? A couple of us from the office have been out both big bike and small bike in the hills up out of Apple Valley. (I live off Central). We are thinking of going out some morning next week. Probably small bike.

Just rode that area, came out at the Indian food gas station, said naw, ate at the subway , took 8440 the hilly gasline route, screwed around a bit, back to cougar. Didn't see a soul. Nice.

When we came out of box canyon 8445 we could see a whole new area to ride across the 40, does that system connect up with the province mountains, mid hills camp, etc?

I can show you another canyon that goes north from Camprock eventually dropping into Kane Wash and on to Newberry hitting pavement right near the Bagdad Café.l

Across the 40 from box canyon you're looking at Cady Mountains. You can go through Hidden Valley in the Cady's heading eastbound and come out north of Broadwell Lake/ Ludlow. You can continue eastbound a couple ways from there.
One way brings you out to Kelso Dunes at Kelbaker Rd. Another more northerly track up to Crucero then eastbound crossing the RR tracks at Sands, continue east through north end of Devils Playground, through Jack Ass Canyon, and popping out at Kelbaker Rd. just south of Mojave rd.

The area you describe riding isn't the same place i'll be riding. You have to dig deep into the ords and daggett ridge to understand the gems there is to ride there.

Looks like a great area to dig deeper into. Look forward to it when you heal.

No plate is no big deal.
Ride is still on but the launch time is undecided for now. That will be firmed up on Wednesday.
Ride will be 60 to 80 miles, but will take a few hours. Lots of sanwashes and singletrack.
