If he was Polish like Brad (since they don't have as many nerve endings in their feet) he would have likely been able to continue without feeling anything at all. It's probably why Brad walks funny too.

Took a closer look at the hill climb and elevation gain. The track indicates this is .4 of a mile, though the elevation profile makes it look a bit longer - we must have continued climbing after the initial ascent.

Regardless, the spike shows how quickly things went up - pretty steep over a semi-short distance.

Somehow missed the conclusion of this. Seems like you guys adapted and did what needed to be done with the generous help of others. Never underestimate the kindness of strangers, they will often surprise you to the positive side. And even though I never ride alone in the woods, considering an in reach now, seems to be the thing to have when stuff starts going wrong.

This is the 2nd time strangers have bailed my dumb arse out, first time was a solo rip in an area no too far away.

I use my InReach regularly, not just when riding; though that's what it was purchased for initially. I've relied on it when hiking, trail riding on my 2-smoker, and just camping in the woods. This was the first time I needed to use it to get help for myself/my friends and I'm thankful I haven't had to use the SOS feature (and I hope it stays that way). The ability to send a quick message to family/friends/etc letting them know you've made it to camp, you've had a mechanical, you've had to reroute, etc, is invaluable in my opinion :-) :-)

Had a chunk of time over lunch and put a short vid together with footage from the first couple days of riding and drone footage. If you have ~3:30 to kill, take a look.

Neat video! We need more! :thumbup

You've illustrated why I cringe and clench at water crossings! I've never dropped one in the water, and fear the possibility.

Seriously, drone footage is bad ass! Really coveys the size of the area.

Thanks @ChicoProf, appreciate it! I'll probably put one more together when I have time, have additional footage that's worthy of throwing into a timeline :lol3

Yeah...that damn water crossing. Front deflected off a rock and sent me over the rut hump and the bike landed on me. Fortunately, I hit the kill switch and didn't suck any water into the motor, but did have to have my buds come get the goofy bike off my leg. Damn boots didn't dry out for the rest of the trip. Had a couple close calls traversing water/creeks in the past, but nothing like this. Here's a tip - make your friends go last so you get the clear water...lol.

Thanks @chudzikb! I was pretty bummed I was only able to get the drone out a couple of times, the riding there just begs to get aerial footage. I'll have it with me the next time I'm there, want to get more footage of riding through the canyons, some different angles for the water crossings, etc.

Thanks @CharlestonADV, appreciate the kind words. If you haven't seen stuff from @RideFreak, I'd strongly suggest checking out his channel. He has some exceptional drone footage and will likely be the reason I end up moving away from DJI to Skydio...dammit :lol3 :lol3

Just remember you'll be at China Hat this weekend too, and we'll be drinking whisky. And there will be fire. And who knows what else :rofl :rofl

You guys have fun over there. I take it you're riding the climate killers. No problem, whiskey covers guilt.
