Thanks, the one I am considering looks like it has PW plastics on it (blue), which I am sure don't fit well. I need to go see it "in person".
    What size tires fit?

    19 to20.5 6x10 front
18 7x7 rear may go bigger if you move the shock mount

also can chang rim size but it’s not worth it. 3752AB37-0A46-4FCD-B90A-0ACD6B8C42C7.jpeg B72D81E8-DE8B-46AB-B8C4-6B6C27200821.png 75A9088D-B9E7-4C3B-BDC8-835F51D1B8F8.jpeg

Pro taper xr50 I think I will double check when home.

also using the klx 110L what ever the taller klx is brake cable. The old one fits but should you have to replace it.

Hi guys! I am hoping to get your opinions on a deal I am considering for a BW200 (non electric start).

I'll be going some time next week to have a look at this unit, it is currently not running (I will check to see if it is seized when I see it in person)

From the pictures I can see that it is missing:
    -Handle bars
    -Front Forks
    -Front Brake assembly
    -Front Hub
    -Front wheel & tire
    -Chain guard
    -Rear tail light lens
    -Both side panels
-Looks like the clutch lever is there but it is missing the perch
    -Jack shaft chain
-Will need a new seat cover and possibly foam

With all the above in mind the seller wants $500 for it.

Do you guys think this is a money pit given the amount of parts that are missing and the state of the bike?
Do you think $500 is a reasonable price given the state it is in?
Is this thing a better parts bike?

Since the front end is missing it almost seems like the best route to go is to put the front forks from the Honda ATC250R since they are the same price on ebay and I will get the benefit of a disc brake upgrade at the same time, thoughts on going that route?

PS - The seller claims that running units are selling for $5,000.... I don't believe that one bit am I wrong?

    Thanks in advance!

He's smoking something good. Now as for the 500, may not be too bad. As long as the motor at least is free and not locked up. good odds it isn't far from running.

The xr50 handlebars are great, I definitely recommend them on the bw80

The black bike looks fantastic with the blue/white decals! I been busy with work but expect to do some more modding soon. The clutch hub bearing was shot, thanks for the heads up on that. I ended up cleaning the original hub. The new one wasn't exactly the same and I like the shiny silver look better anyway.

I did some clutch tuning. And removing balls doesn’t help. I have added springs to all available slots and will add extra balls. With the stock amount of balls it locks up and will power wheelie. It climbs a little better. Will try more balls than stock.

Cleaning out my parts bin. I have a pretty decent condition BW200 fuel tank. Some weather checking but serviceable with good color. No leaks. Thought I would offer up here before going to auction site. 20210307_165715.jpg

Because of size, shipping is around $40. So I'm at $225 Shipped ConUs.

Well my 3 year old was bugging me to bring my motorcycle out riding with him on his KDX50. So I dug the old BW out from behind the shed, welded a kdx200 muffler on, cleaned the carb and we headed to the gravel pit.

After riding for a bit, I remembered that I'd parked and tarped it because of the bad oil leak from behind the swingarm pivot.

So I brought it home and started disassembling. I have an air filter, front drive sprockets and chain, in my shopping cart, just gotta flash it up tomorrow after work and see where she leaks from, then I'll know what I'm dealing with as far as parts needed to keep the oil in the case.

I've always said that when it comes to vehicles for fun, if it's not old, weird, or broken, I'm not interested.

Great news, my old, weird shit...is broken. IMG_20210315_201657_253.jpg

So...are the case gaskets for these obtainable? Or can I get away with a tube of RTV?

I am sure there are discussions on here about starter motors but clearly, I am not doing the search the right way.
I have an 87 350 and it looks like the starter motor has crapped out, good battery, new relay, and when I tap on the motor it tries to go. If there was a reasonable aftermarket I would just try that but the OEM is a pricey roll of the dice. Have people had these rebuilt or is there an aftermarket that is reliable? it also looks well buried in there.
    Thanks

Stockers.com has new units for the 200 and 350. You'll have to call them, their search doesn't list the BW by model.
