The 599 I bought was $1600, with little over 12k miles. It needed chain/sprockets, had a nail in the rear tire, small dent in tank but no rust inside.
I figure it would be a nice commuter for me between Hoboken & Coney Isl. next year. Don't plan on crashing, purchased at $1600, crash or stolen doesn't hurt as much.

What is everyone used for aftermarket Stators and r/r's? Going to do it as a preventative measure

I use a R1 Mosfet RR, wiring by Eastern Beaver and hope I won't have a stator issue because of this.

I was pretty sceptical that it wouldn't be as good as I remember, it's certainly as hot or hotter than I remember but I somehow snagged this immaculate '03 with only 5700 miles. Not a trace of rust or corrosion, not even a missing fastener.

I'm in love all over again, this is the best bike Honda ever made.

I got the dreaded FI light while doing a shake-down run prior to a 4-day weekend in the White Mountains.
The fix seems easy enough, solder a bunch of wires together after dismantling a manufacturing pigtail beneath the seat used once after assembly. Anyway, here's my moto-camping setup:

I tend to agree. A riding buddy had two while we rode together (more after he moved cross country). I got a taste but did not realize just how good a bike this was until 15 years later when I plunked down some coin on a low mileage 1999 myself.

My favorite thing about the bike is how the fueling is perfect with the stock exhaust. Nowadays if you want perfect fueling you have to remove things that make it louder, plus you can't beat the feel of straight throttle cables IMO.
