Ceramic coated my exhaust to help with heat. Seems to tame it a little but it's still a hot bike.

    Too lean?

Have you looked into reflashing the fuel map?
Power Commander or some such may help.

Enjoying the shit out of my new bird, the way this thing turns in and reasssures you with confidence at lean is incredible. Surprised you don't hear more good things about the handling.

Has anyone mounted a Givi top case while keeping the Corbin Beetle Bags too?
I'm wondering about the clearance between the beetles and the rear cowl - enough room for the top case mounting rack?
I've seen a small top-box rack using only the two bolts for the grab handle, haven't found the manufacturer; is this a secure mount?

It was the fastest available in 1998 but the Busa took over that spot in 1999.

I can only think of a few things less appealing than riding a motorcycle in the snow. Wish I was more adventurous

This was one of the best bikes Honda ever made both in terms of design (the VFR1200 was horrendous in comparison) and performance. Unbelievable that they dropped it from the lineup after just a few years instead of developing it further.

Back in '97 before I'd gotten my big bike license (over 400cc) in Japan, a friendly guy at the local Honda shop told me to take his for a spin. At the time I was riding a Transalp 400 and when I grabbed a handful on the Blackbird it felt like I was on the Enterprise hitting warp speed.

Birdy was a completely stock 99 Blackbird when bot in Nc in 2007.
Since I had owned a lot of black bikes, my best friend offered to paint this one.
A beautiful Candy RootBeer in the sunlight, but looked black in less light.
After a short time, the bike was his and he added the BeetleBags and did this.
We rode the east coast every year and Birdy and my Busa were best buds for years.
Another friend Marty bot Birdy from Scott;joined our group and we all rode together.
When the next owner purchased Birdy two years ago, he called me 4 hours later from
    Maine; He was ecstatic!
    Enjoy

I bought my first XX back in '99 and bought another in 2003. I immediately did the top things to make it livable: Corbin seat, Helibars, Givi screen, Progressive fork springs and a bit later-Penske shock.
I'm not racking up the miles on the XX like I used to (I own 3 bikes), primarily because it's not the ideal tooling around in traffic bike and now that I have a bum rotator cuff and a pinched nerve in my neck the bike is sometimes unridable for me.
I thought about selling it but figured I would throw a few bucks at it and see if I could make it more comfortable.
Turns out Genmar/Jaws/chinese knock-off risers will fit just fine with Helibars which means if you go the VFR bar route they will also work. Lots of discussions out there indicating you need to change the brake and clutch lines but nope-totally not necessary. A nice, easy $85.00 fix that totally transforms the ride.
