I guess I should factor in user needs on the headlight thing. My main desire is for it to be bright so that cars see me, not bright so I can see the road, as we have daylight riding for virtually our entire riding season! :shog For that purpose, the LED H4 bulb works great for me.

I hope you take this as the compliment it is intended to be: your Harley has likey seen more dirt than many GS bmws :D Having said that some GS guys can take their bikes through stuff that surprises me. Even on my dr I can get to a precarious situation where balance is required and "stepping off points " are not apparent and I freeze not from fear as much as the right plan is just not coming to me. @cyberdos has asked me a few times, "what are you doing?" Where I answer, "thinking about it... " . The bigger the bike the more plan I need and I'm not a great planner.

I am in love with the desert, it is awesome and beautiful and has so much open space! I also love our green lush mountains, I find the contrast just wonderful.

I’ve always been fairly safe in my environment.
    Fire Folk are next level.
Utmost respect for those that protect people and the land. :thumb

    And Roy, big fan.
I’m doing well on musical snap. :D
This on my projector with my stereo up loud..
You are actually in that venue.

I’ll add tunes to my “catch up with you one day list”

Your DR is a known entity. Now that you are in there, you know how much of it is really good. Only one thing bad. A lot of the cost to you is in ancillary parts needed to do the job correctly. When you are done, you will know your machine and have the well deserved pride of having mastered it. It is going to be a very satisfying ride which you can ride the heck out of. Besides, we need the entertainment :D

a VStrom or AT or GS will not take you on the same adventures the DR can.

For visibility, the $10 6" bar-lights are wonderful: they throw a 'ball' of light - and in fact, the LEDs in our Barkbusters are pretty good too. I could always see Liz in my mirrors in traffic.

I saw Jennifer warrens open for Jackson Browne in the mid 70s, she blew me away, i had never heard of her and her "famous blue raincoat" is a great record. That Orbison cut is great. I like the "traveling wilburys"

    all good..
Funny thing is as tech moved on my Harley saw less easy dirt.
I just used to take paper maps on my Harley.
But as time progressed and I started travelling with a phone with the internet, I could plan differently.
Up until then I just used to ride.
I’ve got over 150k on my original belt drive now, so that also niggles at me.
I never used to worry about it either until the internet told me I should.. :lol3

there are times I’ve been on my bikes and thought I’ve been here on my Harley,
but can remember turning around, usually when it was raining.

and oh yeah.. the thinking about it moment..
    I know it’s a biggie if I stop for a smoke..
    50 / 50 chance I’ll turn around..
the smoke just gives me a bit longer to find the reason..:lol3

A not so good recording gets worse, a good recording gets better with my gear. Vincent valve hybrid amp and AMW studio monitor speakers are the core, but other stuff helps too, like a Thorens TT with SME arm and Denon 303 MC cartridge, Technics DVD player, valve hybrid CD player etc.

I think I liked Roy best in The Traveling Wilburys supergroup.

Many a great artist in that line up.

    Roy
    Tom Petty
    Jeff lynn from ELO
    George Harrison
    Bob Dylan

Roy has the silkiest smoothest voice. A few years ago I was at a record store that's still open from when I was a teen, over 30 years ago, and found a "new" release from Roy.

    Read about it here:
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_of_the_Lonely_Ones

Amazing it was found. I've yet to listen to it. I feel I need to be in the right (relaxed on vacation) state of mind before giving it a go.
