Have the finned inspection covers had a measurably favorable effect on oil temperature? I ask in the context of the covers' hidden location with the fuel tank in situ.

i walked down to the garage last night and saw the space from where the DR was and thought,
Hmmm.. if i moved the grinding / drilling bench outside, i’d definitely have room for a project bike build.
Sort of a long term tinker.

I also emptied a room upstairs this week, to see if i had space for an electronic drum kit i was looking at the other day in a shop.
So now i have room for that as well, if i go that way.

I thought no, be responsible, just one or the other.
Now my brain has hit a stalemate. I already have 3 motorbikes and 3 drum kits..

decision fatigue is hitting hard because i don’t really need either.
I’m a little worried this might be the first sign of “adulthood..” :hmmmmm
How the hell did that sneak up on me?? :lol3 I’m gonna have to fight it.. :D

Got a bug to bump the compression..... so a rainy afternoon and about 2 hours resulted in the pictures below. Everything looked decent shape to my eye. No gouges on the cylinder wall, some research to do on scuffing the cylinder... If needed.... For the new piston.

Now to get the credit card warmed up and get online @procycle IMG_20211023_172239631.jpg IMG_20211023_172256532.jpg

Well shit. I’m not sure what my drivel is tonight. Likely aimed at @Nogoodnamesleft mostly but incomprehensible for sure and just aimless ranting perhaps. Freely admitted, I drank too many beers and ate too many fries and cheese steak. Had a visit out at our local brewery with good friends tonight. Track day buddy/buddies and lots on pale ale. Great time. Motorcycle electronics riding and Vale retiring???
We spoke of our exit from track days, mine using the excuse of age, his the excuse on a 4 year old beautiful daughter. Both recounting freaking fantastic experiences and near misses which could have changed everything. My friend rode a really tricked out ZX10 and taught me about the benefit of electronics controls as a teaching aid. Basically, if the traction control isn’t sputtering and bitching the simple message is to open the throttle! Both of us had a couple life experiences which changed our outlook. My friend passed me on the outside of a corner entrance at over 120 mph with the objective of flipping me the middle finger for fun when he came within fractions of an inch of hitting double Armco after hitting the grass. Mine was trying to stuff him in a corner at a little slower speed (still high gear stuff) and having the brakes non functional until 3 to 4 pumps, Coming close to a 2 bike T-bone collision at high speed. Both of us were riding at near the best we ever had, getting to be fast guys in the advanced group as instructors. I’m thinking of riding at Grattan Michigan following close, down hill on an off camber turn (#3 or #4?) when is see a huge black stripe and a little smoke coming off the rear tire when only the front brake is being used. I was shocked but then realized I’m on his ass. We are both done. Neither miss it. Both are super appreciative. I am happy to have the DR and other “dirt bikes”, my “roots”. What are these motorcycles anyhow? Technology? Performance? No, camaraderie! Experiences and friends override any competitive drive, laughs and excitement. Sorry, silly post. I like all you folks and appreciate your friendship.

At the suggestion of the DR food forum I tried the seasoned cream cheese speed on our salmon tonight. Added a little bread crumbs and broiled for 2 minutes to brown. No after pictures. It was eaten too fast.
