Thanks for the fuel valve info. Yea mine did not come with a valve.
I was thinking of cutting the fin but decided not to.

I made up a pair of fram mounts that had mounting holes drilled off center. I rotated them several times trying to find a good position but when I raised the tank the seat would not fit well.
    So F. it.

Ok, Pingel valve hear I come.

Well, I gotta work on my camera, the pics are to large (file size) to load em. Its a '04 DR650 with K&N, re-jet, and MT21s. Already added a gel seat to get a foothold and some comfort.

Anyone have a DR rear rack for sale, or know of a cheap dealer for them?

Where can I get a good price on the DR250 tail light mod?

Any feedback on the FMF Q2 or Supertrapp for me? The Staintune is a little too pricey for me.

Pictures soon, right now it looks stock and shiney.

Has anyone used the new pelican 1430 cases as panniers yet? :ear

I think I am going to end up spending as much $$$ on mods to a DR 650 as the bike itself. :puke1

Ah, life under a budget. :lol3

    Hi 6speed,
go to www.irfanview.com and download the free photo editor. There is an image resize function. Then get a smugmug account or photobucket account to post the pix...good luck!

You can get the complete DR250 taillight mod here:

My Suz tailrack was $69 from the dealer...

Ive heard that some folk have laced in an 18 inch rear rim- anybody with any experience doing this:ear
    • Fit? (seems like theres a bit of room)
    • Tyre choice?
    • Other adjustments needed?
    • Advantages vs effort?
    Thanks in advance.

Just changed the oil last night to Shell Rotella Synthetic, 5w-40 and I could tell that the shifting improved on my commute this morning. It had Honda dino oil before. I also installed the Autozone-sourced magnetic drain plug too, it will be interesting to see if there is any accumulation on it at the next oil change.

How often are you DR owner's changing the oil?

Buy an 18 inch rear wheel and lace it on or buy a rear off a DR350 dirt model.
Buy a set of longer 41mm forks and front wheel off another bike. A late model Dr350 might work. Honda xr650 forks and front wheel should work too and have the proper springs to boot.

Bill, I've had nothing but good luck running Rotella Synth in mine. I change it every 3000 miles or so, and change the filter every time.

    Hi, Folks.

:lurk I see where a guy is selling a WATER COOLED 2001 dr650se. I've never heard of such an animal! I need a bike, but don't know much about them. So, I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who is familiar with this beastie. Is it worth having, assuming everything is otherwise ok? Thanks for feedback!:ear

The tank decal is just a front guard sticker but it has bubble already. Still staying on though! The both discs are from an Australian Company called, "Aussie Discs"

There isn't such a beast. He could be mistaking the large oil cooler for a radiator.:deal

You might try this on the decal to let it breath and not bubble:
