Just got mine, and like you, used the stock cover again. Easy job.

The two pointed parts of the seat that sit at the front, are not as pronounced on the seat concepts foam, so there is a little more of a gap between the seat and the bike once re-assembled. You can see what i mean in the pic above.

EDIT. Went out for 2 hours today and what a difference. After a first ride, most excellent.

I went for a custom gel-seat from the French company called Top-Sellerie (www.topsellerie.com)

There is no point in comparing the object BMW calls a standard seat with this. I can say that it's by far the best value for the money I spent for any motorcycle accessory, and I can't imagine anything more comfy. :D

One thing to note, on a ride this week in the heat, everyone that had a Gel seat was pretty irritated at them, as the day wore on, they eventually would get hard as a rock, everyone that had one is looking to get rid of them.

I put one on last week after 5 years of trying to tweek the stock seat into something lower.

Seat concept does not make a low seat for the pre 2012 bikes, but they did agree to a softer foam for me.

What a difference, not only does my ass appreciate it, but I can actually flat foot the bike without any suspension mods.

After almost 18,000 miles on the stock "plank" seat, I bought a slightly used Comfort Seat from a F700GS rider who was getting a Corbin. I am very pleased with the Comfort Seat!

Never had that so far. I didn't spend a whole summer with it yet, though. The heavens weather dept. is pretty confused this year, they haven't realized that it's actually mid June. :D

I'll keep that in mind anyway.

Are the seats on the F 700 GS and the F 800 GS interchangeable?

Umm I believe the GSA seat fits the 700 and 800. But the other seats do not fit the GSA. The difference is the other seats don't have the cut out in the seat for the ECU that the GSA has.

Hey upweekis, Sorry to dig up an old post but I'm from just up the road from Seymour in Columbus IN. I was just wondering what he specifically did to your seat. I pick up my "new to me" 800gs on Friday and would be interested in doing something with the seat this winter

I've just ordered the Seat Concepts Tall seat, to replace the awful TT Low seat my bike came with. I'll take some pictures once I have it installed.

It "fits" in the sense that it locks into place but it leaves a big gap by the fuel filler due to the different shape of that part of the GS/GSA tanks.

Maybe you need the body piece from the GSA. There is a picture on the site somewhere of a friends 700GS with the GSA seat. Pretty sure that spot was covered by the GSA panel.

There is no panel there on the GSA. It's all fuel tank.

    What he said ^^^

The other side fits flush with the tank, maybe the picture you saw was taken from that perspective.

Well a girl with a almost new f700gs figured out how to do it. She currently is running my old GSA seat. It looks like you are missing a panel in your picture.

How is the old seat suppose to cover that area?

There is no panel. The seats are different shapes along the right side to accommodate the different fuel tanks. Note the placement of the filler cutout on the GSA seat compared to that of the standard GS it's on.

Perhaps she fabricated something to fill that gap?
