The Forgotten Giant Arrows that Guide you Across America

Perhaps a neat way to explore the west. In the link there is another link that has the locations of these markers

I agree, there was another post somewhere on ADV about these.

It could be an interesting set of rides to find some of them. I was thinking an ADV challenge. They were placed cost to coast.

Might even find some interesting stories along the way.

I brought it up in RedRockRiders thread that there are three arrows in the St. George area.

If not, the FAA website has an historical section that has some info.

Cool, that will be one of my next adventures, a ride to go find an arrow.

SWMBO & I just followed the Lincoln Hwy from California to just past Chicago this last fall, it's pretty fun following the old routes from the 20's. Here is a typical marker seen along the way, this one just as you enter a section that never got paved in Wyoming:

Now If I could borrow this N3N from my son's work, it would be pretty cool to follow the arrows across:

Those are on top of all the fire lookouts that I ride to. I have bagged a few photos of those. Always wondered what kind of adhesive they uses because they are NEVER stolen. Must be good stuff.

Most of the ones I’ve set have a 1/2” diameter shaft on the back that goes in a few inches....but the idea is for them to last a long, long time. The large targets can be found in AZ. They were used to calibrate satellites.
