I, too, go back and forth on soft v. hard. For my latest México tour I removed all cases and strapped down two roll-top dry bags behind my seat. Didn’t care much for the shift in CG but got used to it. Next I’ll try Mosko Moto’s Recluse system.

Agreed. It’s just that I was goofing around on a sandy road and throttled up a corner and stuck my inside leg out... which caught a rock and kicked my leg back into the pannier. That hurt and would have broken my leg in a crash. Now I can’t really blame bad technique on an aluminum box. But since I obviously have bad technique...????

I’m going to give the Mosko panniers a try. I’m already using their Scout 25l tailbag and nomad tank bag. Great stuff.

Maybe you need Hair Restorer. I'll check, I have some friends that need it too. Since my nose deal I've been wearing High & Tight.

Termas De Rio Hondo: Hard to get excited about hot springs, or camping, when it's cold and rainy. But they say there's a motorcycle race coming to town and that's cool. Town.jpg Looks like I'm a little early for the festivities. Approach to track.jpg Wonder if I can park here Sunday? track entrance w bike.jpg

    Yes, I've got tickets : )

The first MotoGP race I went to was the 1996 Czech Grand Prix while riding an Edelweiss MotoGP Tour. Since then, I've been hooked and been to one every year... except for those years when World Superbike was way cooler so I went to them instead.

Amazing documentation! I grew up in central America. You went thru the three areas we lived, Chiappas Mexico, Quetzaltenango Guatemala and Estelli Nicaraugua... as cool as your trip was, it reminded me why I haven't been back to those places much... I am glad you made it safe and sound and wish best of luck with the rest of your trip... keep posting man!

I am negotiating my HOPEFULLY soon to be retirement this weekend.... I have long trips like this planned, but your dedication to the photo and written instruction documentation has set the bar WAY HIGH! I was thinking of doing something similar, but now see I would fail MISERABLY in comparison to what you have done for this trip! Truly Amazing! Most the ones I see like this are more self promotion and "check out how great I am" kind of BS... yours is, in my mind, the single best long road trip documentation i have seen. The ONLY thing that would have made it better would be to have made it in video and put it on youtube... but the amount of work that takes is BEYOND daunting to say the least... I dont blame you for NOT doing that... it is YOUR trip after all...

Thanks for the complement. Just do what’s fun for you! I brought a go pro along and never used it once. I don’t want to edit video. That’s not fun for me. Too much like work.

My RR has two main purposes: to keep family and friends (old and new) updated and to pay it forward for those wanting to do a similar trip.

I’ve slacked off on details of border crossings and places to stay because anyone who has made it this far has got the swing of things.

Now it’s food porn, dogs and some motorcycle racing ahead.

This fella has been waiting around all morning for Rossi’s autograph! BE79A5FE-547B-4FF5-8B21-A14DC0348916.jpeg
