Navigation is what makes it fun. That and new scenary.
This may be a tough navigation section. This cow trail is almost invisible. I put a couple of WPMs out there so riders have some hope of finding their way. The piste zig zags through this brush as drunk cows would do, so it should be quite fun!
cow trailin !
Three roadbooks are now completed, stages 23, 24, and 27, totaling 850km.
Stage 27 is about 70% off-piste through sand, dunes, solid undulating granite rock, and vegetation. This is a sample of the roadbook:
Stage 27 is named "Mars Landscapes". It's a bit of a ping-pong stage compared to the others, bouncing from WPM to WPM, each carefully placed for difficulty or cool factor. The terrain sometimes prevents you from taking a straight line between points, and the varying WPM radii are generally very small, so it might get interesting at times!
I'm doing some prep work before beginning the 5th roadbook, and scouting around on Google Earth I found an incredible hillclimb off the original route, so I'm changing the route to include this massive dune hill. It's 425ft elevation gain from bottom to top, and very steep. I suspect it's not possible to climb it, but when we prerun the new roadbook we'll give it a try. Even if we can't get up there maybe I'll leave it in the route and put a WPM at the top. Then if you can't make it you'll have to skip the WPM and take the penalty of shame!
You are getting more sadistic in your old age.
The sixth roadbook is complete. Now we have 1727km (1072mi) ready to verify. Here are two cool little sections from Stage 14. Both of these pieces will be difficult to ride!
