    Here is the official info:

    Great River Gravel Ride 2007
August 3-5. Planning on camping at the city park in Soldiers Grove Wisconsin, which is right on the route. There will be a gravel route with some level B minumum maintenance roads on it and a pavement route that will have just a touch of gravel in it. Both routes will cross the Mississippi twice, once via a bridge and the next time on the Cassville car ferry.

People will be pulling in at different times on Friday, the actual ride is leaving saturday morning from the campground and returning to the same campground sometime late Saturday night. There will be options to make the ride shorter if you want to, since the full route will be pushing 300 miles.

There is alot of good riding in the area if you want to do some on friday, but no actual organized route.

Oooo, I've been looking at last year's ride reports, and this time I'm in for sure! Last summer I had to work, but now I'm back on day shift. Can't wait! :clap

I'm so there. I loved driving up towards Sageville when I lived in Dubuque, should be a blast around that way on a bike.

Stupid question, but is this city park an actual campground?? Do they have restroom/shower facilities, etc???

Here in my neck of the woods, you're lucky if there's a port-a-john at the city park, much less a decent place to camp....

I rode down to Soldiers Grove yesterday hoping to get some pics of the campground but there was a big parade and festival in town and I couldn't even get near the park. I did however find some great info on Klasjm's awesome ride report about Wisconsin, check this out!

Just show up! First come, first served. This is a huge park, we'll have no problem with space. Its $8 per tent $15 for a camper W/ elect.

Its getting close now, so I want to start getting a head count and if your doing the gravel route or the road route.

    More info coming soon!

    GREAT RIVER GRAVEL RIDE 2007

    AUGUST 3-5

    CAMPING:
We are camping at the Beauford T. Anderson park in Soldiers Grove Wisconsin. http://www.soldiersgrove.com/index.htm
Camping is first come, first served and is $8 per night. Here is a view of one of the areas.

The park has bathrooms with a shower, several shelters and gazebos etc.
We will be a short distance from a gas station, grocery stores, taverns and restraunts.

    THE RIDE:

This year we'll have two routes, a gravel road route with a few Level B roads thrown in for fun. We will range from dirt doubletrack to narrow single lane gravel roads through deep valleys to wide open gravel roads through farm country and some pavement too. This route will be just over 200 miles this year, with additional mileage available if that route is too short.

The other route will be the road route which will run in the opposite direction of the gravel route so hopefully we'll cross paths during the day. This route will also be over 200 miles and will wind down to the Mississippi river and cross the river on the Cassville car ferry and go through some scenic highlands and then down to the river again near Lansing Iowa, then come back into Wisconsin and follow the Blackhawk war path back to camp.

Speaking of the Blackhawk war, this will be within a couple days of the 175th anniversary of the Battle of Bad Axe and if your into history, there is alot of it in this area. Towns like Soldiers Grove, Victory, Retreat, and Red Mound are all on the route and were important in the Battle.

GPS files will be available before the ride. Maps will also available for those without GPS's.

There will be some other fun routes to ride if you want on Friday or Sunday
If you want. The Rockton Chicken Q will be on Sunday, a must do!!
