Yep, the terrible condition of the pavement on Carson Pass is the reason it is my third favorite Sierra pass.

Any current pics of the Sierra's are welcome, I'd be interested in seeing as low as 7000ft. My trip in the 3rd week of June is still up in the air although the snow pack seems to have plateaued

This was a couple weeks ago but I doubt the snow pack has changed much. This is on Hwy 88 at about 7200 feet.

When those passes open really depends on April and May. I think Ebbets/Sonora are usually always open by then, though. Tioga may not be.

I did that route a couple of years back, amazing roads. Jealous that its in your backyard!

Going to be back in July, I will keep an eye on this thread for road reports.

Black oak casino to cherry lake then down to 120 where towards Yosemite was the plan, Sonora pass is still closed

Did Forest road 1N04 or whatever route 14 and 31 are on the butler maps this past sat. Road is destroyed/gone or covered in debris and mud. Wet two foot snow stopped me only a few turns from cherry lake.

Where's all the snow? I don't live there so I'm little confused, but how high to you have to go start seeing wet roads?

I live near twain Harte at about 4000 feet no snow and cherry lake is just under 5000. I haven't headed up past cold springs in a few months but there is little to no snow that far.

So if it's April right now, Oroville-Quincy and Ice House are going to be totally clear in June right?

What about the Oroville dam? Has that effected anything up there?

That's all a bit north of me so not sure. We are above the oroville effected area but the record rain fall still wreaked havoc on the roads

I think the target for opening Ebbetts, Monitor, and Sonora passes is prior to Memorial Day weekend. Big tourist dollars that weekend and the state gets a lot of heat about it if they don't have the passes open in time.

Are both these photos from the Cherry Lake Road?

I rode my streetbike to the NW (120) entrance of Yosemite on Saturday with the intent of riding a loop out the 140 entrance, but the ranger wouldn't let me pass due to similar road conditions.

The pictures are 31, 14 has some washouts and lots of mud and debris but several trucks and a jeep got through. Everyone got stuck in the snow just before cherry lake

This was the worst road I've found so far. Most just have lots of dirt and rock debris in the corners

That's still enough to ruin a trip out there, I'll stay tuned and decide in May if I'll make the trip in June.

I thought this was 11 Pines Road near Georgetown when I first looked. There are several similar washouts in the El Dorado National Forest.

Marshes Flat Road (Kelly Grade) is closed due to washouts near Moccasin, too. I am going to try riding it as an in and out from the other end.
