  1. Over Kingsbury and Luther in a cage today.
Totally rideable. Bits of sand and occasional wet spot.
    Don't be scared....

The passes (4, 89, 108, 120) are all now shut down for the winter. Enjoyed them all a lot this past season.

First week of March! How high were the banks of snow along the road? Or, was it simply bare of snow?

I'm gonna guess it was pretty bare. Hasn't been any snow in maybe 6-8 wks.
  7. Several feet, but not a "normal" amount of snow.

A few wet patches across the road.

I watch the daytime temps. and travel during the warmest mid day temps.

Is anyone but me expecting the passes tp open about the same time as the “lockdown “ is over?
Hey, gotta have something to look forward to. Am I being too optimistic?

I rode up 120 today to the north entrance of Yosemite NP. Caltrans has started a major resurfacing project as of 4-15 (though Oct according to the sign) just up the hill from Groveland. There is construction paraphernalia all the way to the park entrance and about 2 miles have been ground down. If the park reopens this summer, this could be real miserable to ride though.

    Just FYI for everyone.

What's happening on the road in CA during the apocalypse? I've been tempted with this nice weather to make a run over Yuba Pass just for kicks, but half afraid of getting stopped at some kind of quarantine checkpoint, have stayed on my side of the state line since everything went down. My guess is that they aren't stopping people randomly, but not sure. I have NV plates, BTW- might make a difference?

I went up to Antelope Lake last Thursday via Beckworth Genesee Road and came back through Quincy/Sieraville/Truckee with no problems. I was surprised at the amount of traffic and variety of license plates.

I did a ride about 2 weeks ago going west on 49 and coning back by 20, 80 and the old 40 to Truckee and down to Lake Tahoe to 50 to home without problems. Food was available in Downieville.

Last week out 88 to Plymouth and back via 50 with no problems. I read that the LEO in South Lake Tahoe were told to issue fines of $1,000.00 for nonessential travel but I have not heard if they are doing it.

On both rides a good time was had by all.

Food in D-ville, even !?! And I hadn't expected the roads to Antelope would be clear yet. I had V-strom on my mind, but now that you mention Genessee Rd, I think I hear my DR calling. Thanks for the situation report, gang.

    Heads up on road information.

Indian Creek Rd from Genesee to Antelope is closed (blue line on map below). A motorcycle can get around the gate and the road is not that bad, but there could be work in progress that will stop you. The damage from last years fire is infuriating, thousands of trees piled up on the road being extracted.

Can't bring myself to "like" anything about another fire, but thanks for the closure warning.

I'm getting conflicting reports. Anyone know for certain if Monitor Pass is open?
