I sat on one today. Not sure if I need it with the VanVan around but it is awesome and oozes Honda quality.

Never really considered a Grom but the Monkey, although the fraternal'ish twin I'd roll in a heartbeat.

Sat on the red one at the dealer today. It is impossible to not smile when you sit on it. IMG_4625.JPG

I will be putting those on, Surprisingly the little Vee Rubber tires weren't too bad on the first ride out today. Did about 30 miles, half and half gravel/paved. Video coming later.

Some initial impressions. The only/biggest shortcomings are
    1. huge differences between the gears, especially first to second. On road not terrible, on steeper hills and gravel forest roads it was more noticeable.
    2. Overall too tall gearing, I will be changing the sprockets. First is way too tall but then second is almost unusable at 20 mph. Fourth gear actually isn't any faster than third. I made it to 52 mph in third, shifted to fourth, made it to 53 mph, then started slowing, revs were not very high. The bike will probably be faster with shorter gearing so that it makes enough power to pull itself along. Still, I don't really care if goes much faster than 50-55.
    3. suspension (but duh, who would have not thought that). Again on smooth road it's OK, but takes very little to bottom it out on bumpy road when you weigh 200 lbs.

Look, somebody not riding one through a suburban area or along a local highway (seems like all the "review" videos are that).

My only disappointment with this little guy is the difference in JPN/Euro models vs. US. I like the cool-looking rear light/turn sig stalks (and up-front) vs. the big, clunky, plastic US ones. Thinking I'll get the intl. set-up because...I just like it. I'm half way through break-in. 300 mile break-in. Really?

break-in? ha. just ride the thing. Blinkers, yeah too funny that all the adverts around the world stated "full LED lighting" except in the US we get turn signals with incandescent bulbs and that big fat taillight. The Euro spec are nicer looking for sure, I guess ours have to have a certain amount of square inches..

Went for a 50 mile ride to NC yesterday, just up and back on River Road. Was going to stop at Bald River falls, but I thought Baby Falls was more appropriate for the mini bike. River Road follows the Tellico River all the way to NC. Slow and steady climb from about 1000 feet to 2400 feet in 20 miles. PWent about 40 mph in 3rd the whole way to NC (uphill), could slowly accelerate, couldn't really hold station in 4th gear. On the way back, all downhill, could cruise in 4th from 35-50 mph with better acceleration than 3rd going uphill. It's very gradual slope, but it certainly makes a difference. The seat is SO nice.

I found a place in Thailand that already has quite a few parts for Monkey's. I asked and they said they would ship to the US, just not sure the charges. If guys want to, might be a good idea to group order things and split shipping charges and such until more things are available in the States. Maybe we can find an OEM parts dealer from overseas and buy the Euro/Asia tail light and blinkers. I really want a blue Monkey.. :raabia

I ordered the Asia/Euro/JPN tail light and "winkers". Stock Honda parts. Off eBay. I'll get the fronts shortly. One piece at a time. I sure hope I don't run into a LED vs incandescent "winker" relay issue.
