Sounds great, thanks! Yeah, I'm part of the Louisville Vintage Motorworks crew so as you know, Barrett is our club house!

Anyway, my brother and I have been riding for 50 years but we've kind of lost our way when it comes to how we started. I told him about the KAT and he said we need to go get a couple of DR650's and do it!

Throw some true knobbies on those 650's and you have a very good KAT bike!

I saw you uploaded some new files. I assume these are the latest tracks?

thank you for continuing to update the track/trail info! headed there Tuesday and can't wait! Starting in Jellico and more than likely headed clockwise. It's looking HOT.

Long time no see Jeff, this route looks perfect.
I’ve been out of the loop for 3 years plus, this looks like a great place to jump back in. I still have the Vstrom and Ural.

    Hi Jeff,
Have you considered starting a KAT "photos and video only" thread in the Photos subforum? It seems like it would be a perfect way to get more exposure for the KAT and could help people better understand what they're getting into. Forgive me if this has already been done and I missed it; I did a quick search but didn't see anything.
    Thanks for what you do,
    Chuck

Trying to catch up with stuff...

There was some confusion about which path to take here and the initial one on top was not right, I think it ended up fizzling out/piles of dirt or something, then I found the right one and it was obvious we were the first in a long time.

    Here's the tree blocking the path (approximately: N37° 21.068' W82° 12.291'):

This "State Route" is also extremely overgrown, the tree is barely visible as the light colored thing in the middle of the pic over his shoulder:

And back the way we came in:

I can't tell where that is, turn the KAT tracks on so I can see them on your screen shot.

Sorry, it's in between Conaway and Big Rock, VA: https://goo.gl/maps/1QZn9xy5TfTuPAHS9

Another turn-around for us was Luner Rd just east of the bottom of Hard 4. Dunno if that's enough to warrant a warning waypoint, it was muddy so we couldn't tell how deep it got and detoured (and detoured) (N37° 14.256' W84° 16.857' - https://goo.gl/maps/V2uGuCCg3RoHVGaQ8)

I don't have pictures but the gate blocking the path on hard 10 is here: https://goo.gl/maps/hdWUdZ7eEVtkmR6T9
Its pair blocking the same road going back east (not the route) is here about .3 miles away: https://goo.gl/maps/762cgHNhuw5XTSKK6

Tree down on Hard 3 first part of Sheltowee Trace leaving the campground: https://goo.gl/maps/vfzT9Taivo9PoXFu6
I think I said before but Turkey Foot Rd west of the campground *is* currently closed which is part of the main route.

I was just through there on Sunday, the water is back down to normal level. It's rock bottom.

The spot with the gate is no longer on the KAT as they are doing active mining in there now.

Downed tree's are just part of it, it's not worth rerouting because at some point someone will make a path around it or cut it out.

The Turkey Foot Rd will be repaired and reopened.

Just curious, do most people doing the KAT download the .gpx file to a GPS (like a Garmin) or do they use a smart phone app? And if using a phone app, which one do most people recommend?
    Thanks!

Both. If you have an iPhone, I recommend Motion X.
