My last smoker was a 480R new off the floor in ‘82..... thumpers ever since... just put a deposit on this... kinda stoked.
Was/is tempting... I’m closing in on 60 and probably not going to race the series next year as I want ride something other than corner and sprint tracks for a while. I already have a very well dialed in xcf and I need a street legal dirt bike. Thought about putting a light kit on the xcf and getting the XC.... But my suspension wizard can valve and set-up a PDS pretty nice. It will work for what I’m gonna use it for..., local trails, BDR, Moab, exploring, etc.
I commented once that I have boots older than that. Might be stretching it a little here. But I do have a son older.....
The Erz actually comes with some decent bolt-ons (useful guards and such compared to 6days bling). Question for ya, though: what are the “radiator guards” ?
Haven’t spent any time looking it over to be truthful. Walked past it picking up a tire in parts... snapped a pic.. got home called my salesman and said I want the next one coming in (I like getting them right from the crate)... gave a deposit over the phone. . Any rad guard that comes with it will be replaced with bullet proof designs. The hand guards (not shown on the bike in the pic as they are back ordered) will be pulled and replaced with SXS as I don’t like wrap arounds. Not gonna race it, just gonna have fun. Hell, I don’t even know if I remember how to ride a 2-stroke. Rode my buds ‘16 6-days a couple years ago and blew every corner I entered.... where the hell is the engine braking?
Fo sho. I “learned” off road on a 300. After coming off a 4t that never saw real off-road (ST, enduro, etc). Long funny story, but on 1st ride day with the bike, I blew a narrow rock pass (thread-the-needle sort of stuff at least 18” high). Got off the throttle so I had time to measure/think. Crap, no engine braking, wasnt sure the foot pegs would clear the chute, and I was going too fast to “test” it out; had to turn off the trail; then didnt have enough distance after grabbing a hand and foot full of brake. There was a cliff (small) involved. Sweeper behind me saw me disappear. The story comes out annually with the same group. That’s when I learned - these orange bikes are tough as hell and full armor rocks!
I shouldn’t clutter up a thread with such drivel. But you are right. My oldest are 50 and 53. So Fuddy would appear to have a few years on them. He’s still a young Fuddy IMO
We all have different value systems. My own is closely tied to how many hours I am able to spend riding single track. Currently my net worth by this measure is pretty high. When you can dream of riding ST you know you have arrived.
