Im sure. Living in the high desert of northern NV has made me yearn for the wet more and more. With the Sierras locked down more than ever it seems to be a perfect time to relocate.

Tonight I shall raise a can of reasonably priced lager to celebrate the day that my 300 turned 400.

It happened way later than expected because I made the mistake of buying a 450 last winter and riding it for the most part of spring and summer. Since July the 450 has been hidden in the garage and I've been back on the faithful 300.

Of course. The Rider’s Camp is open here year round. This holiday weekend we are hosting a big group of inmates and their families from a bit south of here. While I am too decrepit to lead the really hard routes, I have lots of younger highly skilled riding buddies willing to throw down. We cater to a wide variety of skill levels and craft an experience to gently stretch each rider’s discomfort zone. Our goal is for everyone to have a great time but nobody gets hurt. PM me when you are ready. We ride year round.

Rode the 300 today, it had been 23 days, not that I'm counting or miss riding it...not my fault! Was on vacation for 10 days then my riding area got shut down due to heavy rains TWICE! Second time for 5 days! Any way was a great day on the 300 in the mud!!

No trials bikes been up yet ? Seems like the machines with best access to the alpine are mountain sleds and trials bikes. Most of what people call hard enduro is intermediate trials riding at best. Good on your crew for getting big bikes up the hill !

Standard time zone here is GMT +2 hours so it’s only 398 hours in London.

I’ve been changing the piston every 100 hours or so.

Wow, that Erzberg at Skagit Powersports lasted long enough to get it on the showroom floor.
I was going to go look at it today after work, Ana said it was gone. :lol3
    So who bought it?

I'm nearing 175 hours on my current piston. Today I checked it for the 3rd time since I installed it, and the compression is *exactly* the same as shortly after I put it in - to the pound!

Maybe at some point I should worry about the piston just snapping, but I really am curious how long it would go without losing any compression.

My regular Montessa Cota riding partner has been preoccupied riding Gifford Pinchot National Forest and North Cascades gnar in the last month. I am sure the recent success by the big bikes will shame him into getting serious about this route. I mean if a 501 can do it....

I’ve found that in well maintained bikes cast pistons tend to lose their skirts before losing compression. Be careful pushing it too long.

100 to 140 hours on a piston is a good interval.
I was at piston service limit at 140 hours. Piston skirt measurement.
