From what @Floridaman told me about pricing on a new 301 rear fender with graphics, Montesa must have them done by the Harley CVO division.
yea my experience is that graphics add a “0” to the end of the $. so i went ahead with no graphics

So... as much as I love my Repsol, I was having a devil of a time starting it. I was wondering what had gone wrong, as on my previous 4rt I had pretty much gotten the drill down. Fortunately I ride in NM, with the Montesa mafia. I had thought when the bike got here from NE, that the idle was high, so me being me I adjusted it down. When I was asking @NMTrailboss, a 4rt OG, about issues starting he asked about that, and told me where to find the instructions in the manual. And like magic, worked great. Thank you sir! Always listen to your betters, I can’t find any elders
Does anyone elses 4RT puff what appears to be very light blue smoke when you rev it up quickly? I notice it especially when I open the throttle to about 25%; hold it there; and then open it abruptly to about 60%. It is a 2018 model that I bought as a left over this past July. It currently has 8 hours on it. I have done the first oil change but it has puffed smoke since it was new. I check the oil frequently and it does not appear to be consuming much. I do not notice it at idle or riding it around but can smell it occasionally when I have given it a lot of quick throttle and circle back to where I had just been. It kind of annoys me that a brand new bike would smoke and burn oil right off the showroom floor.
My 2017 300RR had a touch of blue tell I hit maybe 20-30 hours or so, I suspect it was just because things where not fully seated in yet.
Checked the valves in the 301 today. what a waste they’re perfect as expected.
Just did a price reduction on my 300rr fuel tank for sale in the Trials classifieds. $400 shipped to conus. Will make somebody's 300rr look like new.
What is the best avenue of acquiring a seat for a 4RT in the US? The places I find on google all seem to be in another country. I would like to avoid importing one. I really like the look of the HM seat.
Should I just pursuing making my own?
Id call Dennis at Overland Trail. He has lots of knowledge and Montesa things.
also theres a Jitsie velcro job.
I have a HM seat and the brackets are flimsy. Wood screws and rivets in plastic. If you don't crash it will be fine but if you do, it will get all loose.

One more question and it may be an oversight; just did my first service and noticed I had standard Honda GN4 10w-30 oil.Bought it at the dealer and was not paying attention. I see they also sell HP4S full synthetic oil. I have to assume the standard GN4 is not full synthetic but will it make a difference? Should I dump the GN4 and put the full synthetic in? Change the filter too?
Your talking a 15hr run time so if it was me I would just stick with it and then go back to the HP4S on the next change, if you really want to sooner I would just drain the GN4 and then go HP4S without the filter change but again that is just my 2 cents. In the end its up to you on if you think it is a really big issue or not.
Also guessing you picked up some ELF HTX 740 for the transmission side, or did you decide to go with something a bit less $ like the NILS oil?
