That's strange. You got the unit right . . . but not the hill. And I don't find a Wolf Mountain over that way.

Take another shot at the lookout name.

I was just in the area yesterday on the way home from the winom shindig and the views looked really familiar. Wolf mountain is on the southwest edge of the black canyon wilderness
    Flagtail mountain then?

I only got it based on Murders Creek. You take it once zip code confirms the answer.

FWIW, Wolf Mountain over by Black Canyon is on the Ochoco.

Tell us about the Winom shindig.

I was in Murderers Creek Unit when I saw Wolf Mountain, which is good enough for me, although it might not be good enough for a Fish And Game officer if there were actual tags and animals involved.

    Where am I?

Acceptable answers: The peak I'm on, the ridge the peak is on, either of the ATV trails I could have ridden on that ridge to that peak, or a picture of this place from the lookout which is out of the frame.

Looking at the skyline, somewhere in Idaho? Or looking at Idaho from northeast Oregon.

I don't have the GPS tracks or the paper maps, but I'm pretty sure there's an OBDR route in the picture.

No, fall mountain was way closer.

Edit: if you meant the lookout ridge above blue lake near rainbow.
If you meant a different one, that's still not it, but might be closer :D

I probably should have known that, considering it's a ridge with ATV trails that I rode two days before, and it's on the right side of the highway hint, and it is closer than Fall Mountain by about 10 miles.

    Nope, getting a little colder.
In the winom shindig thread there is a forest service document with a couple of maps, and my spot is on one of them.
The one where the ohv system is named after the hunting unit it's in, which is named after the butte on the left of the picture, which is named for the creek in the bottom of the picture, which named for being in the middle of freaking nowhere :D

Edit: I was wrong about the map in that thread, it's the discount version
    here is the full map
