Is it the first time there's a different rest day for the bikes+quads and cars+trucks ?

PAU is missing due to funding/sponsor issues i guess ?? Will miss him this year but i do hope he returns.

I seem to recall a number of brother pairings over the years, but the only father/son combo that springs to mind (there may have been others?) is Daniel Pescheur (former french Police Motorcycle gaurd) who rode together with his son Eric, (in several rallies incl. Oz Safari) during the nineties... I am fairly sure they rode dakar together...

You seem to have studied the leg summaries/route map for the 2015 edition pretty closely Deadly (I have not had time), but from the quick browse I had, and your comment above, as I understand it the moto/quad and the auto/truck routes differ completely on a couple of days - indeed the "rest days" (for moto contra auto)are scheduled on different days.

So your observation that the auto's (at least on a couple of occassions) may be "opening" the piste (should not be a big problem for the navigators) but may make for some fun "cat and mouse" games between the top competitors.

But conversely, does this mean there will be days where the moto set out on a stage, already traversed by the auto field (the day prior). In which case what part will "following the wheeltracks" play for the front running moto competitors...? :ear

    Team Suzuki Rally bikes

Most of the componets on the Suzuki bikes are made from two inmates, so another great test this year and a huge step for Highwaydirtbikes. They are making their debut to Dakar with bikes running both nav switch gear (and the patent pending lever backup switch) , hand guards and folding mirrors hidden behind the guards :clap .
Aurora seats first time in Dakar together with some more prototyping equipment that was tested during the year from the Suzuki people...

Good luck to Mario and Tato, looking forward to following the team :1drink

and rightly so :clap but I think we're gonna have to get good ol' "CS" an F5 nickname... or some of us will miss five pages of the f5irehose, trying to type/spell his name... :lol3

My vote is for "Santosh" or "Toshi" for short...?:ear

It's really great with the diversity of competitors that the DAKAR is starting to attract... should be a fun race this year! :thumb
